Yesterday I did a super fun double session for Keira Hydratedandhappy and her bestie Bailey!

Keira booked the session as a birthday gift to Bailey and im so glad she did, they both have the most amazing eyes! It was fun seeing Bailey’s brown freckles with a dark blackish freckle at the top of her eye and Keira’s golden greenish hazel eyes were stunning and also feature a freckle on the bottom middle of her iris!

Here’s a little blurb that Keira shared about themselves on my intake form….

“Bailey and I have been besties since over 2 decades. We have been through the most amazing experiences together, and both of our eyes have seen all of it together. We are connected by the soul and the eyes are the pathway the soul.”

After the session we got the chance to chat a little bit and Bailey was kind enough to show off some of her cool things she collects including a real life giraffe 🦒 leg!

On Sunday I had the honor of photographing 5 irises for the Harkless family.

My dear friend Gabrielle came across me on TikTok and reached out about a session and she became my instant bestie. If you are looking for a talented jeweler and want a custom wrapped crystal pendant etc, you gotta check her out because her skills and talents are top notch and I have a couple of custom pieces that I commissioned her to do, and they came out phenomenal!!! Gabrielle Harkless go show her some love and follow her account because her work is out of this world and I plan on using her for all of my wire wrapping needs!

Not only is she talented in her crystal wrapping skills, but she’s also one of the most amazing humans ever. She has a heart of gold and it was so fun meeting her family. Her kids were so respectful and you could tell how close knit they all were! Just the most adorable family ever, and they all had such amazing features and colors in their irises as displayed in the family collages I put together!

Here were some of my favorite designs from their session. Thanks again for choosing me to capture these images for your family Gabrielle! Tonight I did a double session for Julie from Ogden! I was blown away by her golden green eyes with all the fun freckles!! She was super sweet and although I didn’t get to experience it in person, Julie has a special talent where she can honk her nose like a horn! I wish I had mad skills like that!!! But I just have basic skills like taking pretty picture skills, being afraid of grasshopper skills, and crying in chick flicks skills haha.

My second session of the day was another couples session, this one for Kelly and Dan. A super sweet couple who both grew up on the beach and love everything nature!

I was blown away by the awesome light patch that kelly had on the bottom of her brown iris. When I was showing it off to my wife she said it reminded her of hiking through the woods and a patch of light shining towards her making its way through the thick dark forest and she’s totally right. So unique and pretty.

Dan has some pretty hazel eyes himself full of detail and structure and such a unique combo of colors. They contrast and compliment Kelly’s brown eyes so well!

Had the honor of doing a couples session for Tawna and Jason today. They are celebrating their 19th anniversary together and decided to do an iris session to document their love!

They both have such stunning eyes. Tawna with the hazel greenish eyes with awesome freckles and Jason with gorgeous ocean bluish grayish eyes.

It’s been a minute since I’ve done a close up post so I figured I’d grab some ultra close ups of some of my recent sessions because these always fascinate me.

Im also toying around with the idea of doing some live videos in the future to maybe do an editing session start to finish to kind of show some behind the scenes from raw photo to final edit. If I can find the courage to do it haha I’ve never done a live video before and the introvert in me says it would be a complete disaster lol. So we shall see what happens

Thought it would be fun to share a collection of double iris collages. Each one of these collages is the same human being with both their left and right irises photographed.

A lot of times I get asked how do I know which eye to get photographed. I typically have clients look into my iris viewer to see which eye stands out. For the most part they can be very similar to each other as seen in some of these collages, while other times there can be more noticeable differences.

Sometimes one iris might have a freckle that the other iris doesn’t have, or maybe they both have freckles but one has larger freckles or more freckles.

Or you could be crazy lucky and have complete heterochromia and one eye be brown and the other one be green!

Either way both of your eyes are unique and will never be exactly the same left to right.

So now im curious, if you had the chance to do an iris session and had to choose, would you do your left eye or your right eye and why?

Can’t wait to hear which one you’d choose and why you selected that particular eye!

Bonus points for posting pics of your eyes in the comments even if it’s just a cell phone photo or a photo you had done with another iris photographer, I’d love to see your eyes!
