I started taking photographs in 2013 in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge in southwest Oklahoma. Although landscapes are my primary subject, I also enjoy wildlife photography and urban photography. I am currently working on a project photographing places that are on the National Register of Historic Places. Those photographs and write-ups can be found on my other page called Wandering Through

I was out in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge early this morning before it got too hot and too touristy. The wildflowers are stunning right now, with carpets of yellow everywhere you look. Two reminders: first, you can only camp at Camp Doris or in parts of the backcountry (if you have a permit). You CANNOT pitch a tent wherever you decide. Two, please do not approach the "fluffy cows". The photos I took of bison were NOT taken with a telephoto lens - the trio was literally across the road from my car, which was in drive and ready to move. The two people walking toward them from behind me were not the brightest. Always exercise caution - these are wild animals and they can move faster then you think.

It was an absolutely beautiful night in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. The weather was perfect (now that the rain has stopped), the wildflowers are beautifully in bloom, and there is abundant water in the lakes and over the dams. So blessed to have this beautiful place in my backyard.
