At the end of October, I attended the in KY. and .poynter.37 were my coaches. They helped shape the story. Stacey welcomed me into her home and her family for a week. This is her story:
——
A 38-year-old single mother, Stacey Miller was busy caring for her son and earning a living making deliveries for Walmart when a bolt came into her life: a diagnosis of Stage 2 breast cancer.

Everything changed quickly. What started as an initial treatment plan of radiation and a lumpectomy morphed into 16 chemotherapy treatments, including four weeks of what Stacey called the “red devil.”

A fiercely independent woman, Stacey took herself to all of her appointments, even though they were 90 minutes away. Then her mom, Valerie Fields, a nurse, began joining her. Still, Stacey sometimes drives one way to help out.

Even while living with cancer, Stacey often puts others’ needs ahead of her own. The head covering she wears makes her head hot, but Stacey leaves it on because her mother and daughter are not ready to see her newly bald head.

Despite the difficulties, there is still good news. The same day as her cancer diagnosis, her grandson was born.

And Stacey and her family still find time for fun.

During an early celebration of her mom’s birthday, the family watched the Kentucky vs. Purdue basketball game.

“What else can you do, because such is life,” she said, “We’ve always been a family that likes to laugh and make light of everything.”

I can’t let the day go by without a shout out to one of my favorite Navy Veterans! 25 years of service. Dean went to medical school on a Navy scholarship. His plan was to serve the time he incurred and then get out of the military and go into private practice. Once he was in the Navy he realized that he wanted to take care of the men and women who served our country alongside him. He passed up on more lucrative and “prestigious” private practice opportunities and has never regretted it. He continues to support the military in his current job as a civilian. As a federal employee, he hasn’t been paid for 6 weeks now along with our active duty military members (some of whom are currently deployed). They continue to serve. Whose portrait do you like better?

Happy birthday to The Original Number. Or as he’d say it, with his Long Island accent…”The Original Num-bah”. Dad would have been 93 today. He made everything an adventure. When he made us hot chocolate, it was from scratch not a mix and he called it “The Original Number”. Who wants the original number he’d ask and we’d all say “me”!! He could fix anything, taught me to sail, he loved being a grandfather, could fall asleep anywhere (even on a rock), and I just loved hanging out with him. Forget the hot chocolate. *He* was The Original Number-bah! Miss you Dad ❤️

Photography introduces me to some truly incredible people, and this young man is no exception. A junior at Penn State, he recently walked on to the basketball team—a huge accomplishment! 🏀✨

Back in high school, he was offered a modeling contract but chose to pursue his college education instead. It’s always inspiring to hear about the different paths people take and the passion they bring to their journey. He is proof that hard work and determination can lead to amazing opportunities! I love watching how he is carving his own path, balancing athletics, academics, and big dreams. "

Layers of creativity and drive. 📸⚽💪 This guy wears many hats—photographer, personal trainer, soccer coach—and does it all with style. His tattoos tell stories, his energy is contagious, and his passion for what he does shines through. Here’s to capturing the hustle and heart that make him one of a kind. 🙌

Having both of my sons home for the holidays is one of those moments I cherish most. Watching their personalities play off each other is such a joy—and it’s a reminder of how special sibling bonds are. When I take portraits, I always aim to capture that connection, because it’s those little interactions that make memories timeless. Sometimes, portraits don’t need big interactions to tell a story. These brothers' bond is still there—in the subtle symmetry, the quiet confidence, and their shared history. Not every connection needs to be loud to be felt. ❤️

Radiance, beauty, and confidence—captured in every detail.

I have the privilege of showing my clients just how stunning they truly are. As an older woman myself, I understand how rare it can be to have beautiful portraits taken that truly reflect your essence. That’s why I’m passionate about creating images like this—timeless and elegant portraits that celebrate who you are today.

Because every woman deserves to feel beautiful at every stage of life. ✨
