Realtors: A simple drone mistake can carry serious financial consequences.

Using aerial photos or video to market a property is considered commercial drone use under FAA regulations. That means different rules apply than recreational flying—and many professionals don’t realize where the line is.

What I see most often isn’t bad intent. It’s good agents relying on DIY drone footage or unlicensed operators, assuming the responsibility stops with the pilot. In reality, the agent or brokerage can also be exposed—sometimes to fines as high as $11,000.
