This felt like a fitting last project for my little studio. I made a frame for this 8x5’ map of the Louisiana purchase from 1896. It has been a good run!

These kinds of posts are never easy, but here we go. I’m going to be winding down operations at my studio on Mass st over the next month or two. I consider it one of the honors of my lifetime to have had my various businesses supported by the Lawrence community for well over a decade. I feel very fortunate to have been in a position to curate over a hundred art shows in Lawrence, spanning over 6 venues. I will forever be proud that frames I’ve made will live on in so many houses, businesses, galleries, special collections, art centers, universities and museums. Being a part of the Lawrence arts scene for all of these years have truly been a gift. If you would like to support my transition I would love to frame that piece that you have been putting off for a little too long, or even just the thing you picked up yesterday. I want to sincerely thank everyone who has supported me, my art and my businesses over this last decade (and some change). It really does mean the world to me.

One of the fundamental truths about being human is that pain is part of our universal experience. Often it feels like our pain is a journey of isolation, our pain seeks to convince us that we are alone, left only with the pain itself to be our guide.
The truth is that we can find choice in our quest for freedom from the mental ties that bind us to our emotional landscape. To look into the eyes of another person and decide that they could never understand our pain is the opposite of empathy. That said, pain is not the currency we share, but the space where can learn mint our compassion.
The truth is that we can choose to isolate or unify ourselves.
Our pain is the doorway we can step through to begin to mint our compassion for ourselves and everyone that we come in contact with. This piece is part of our ongoing isolation series. It is available for purchase, please give us a shout if you are interested. And as always, we love you.

Kindness and cruelty are both born out of conflict.
Change is inevitable.
Tectonic shifts can either divide or allow us to build something beautiful.
When we are cruel, we allow the world to fracture and divide us.
When we are kind we allow and facilitate the making of mountains.
These days are full of conflict and strife.
Our emotional landscape may never be the same.
We will have a choice when this is over, though.
To be cruel, would be to allow the world to break.
To be kind, would be to create something better.

This piece is part of our isolation series, these images were made separately but together as a way for us to maintain closeness during this time of separation. This piece is available if you are interested, and as always, we love you.

Stagnation can be challenging.
The Guilty pull of ‘what should I be doing..? With the inevitable collapse of, if I don’t produce, do I even exist.’
Living in your head can make the act of sitting quietly, sometimes shockingly loud.
Negative thoughts are an inevitability but in that stillness, we can find an opportunity to observe our thoughts and give them the space they need to grow, blossom, wither, and die. Stillness is the space we should allow ourselves to fully engage our thoughts and feelings, keep the things that serve us and let the others go.

The piece is available if you are interested. And as always, we love you.

My new normal. I’ve always loved interacting with the outdoors, but I never imagined that it would be my only friend. This pandemic continues to change my perspective on interaction and companionship. I can’t wait to (safely) see you all again.
