Recently, I learned someone filed to run against Rep. Suzanne Wikle in a primary. I respect the ambition, however, I overwhelmingly support . She is a passionate, yet pragmatic leader who fought for Medicaid expansion, additional school funding and better housing policy. I’m proud of my work for her campaign in the past, and can’t wait to support her reelection.

As Kansas Legislature begins its 2026 session, I’m reminded of this photo I took last year outside the Senate. I’m proud of electing certain members, and I’m disappointed that others can continue serving. Nonetheless, as the Kansas constitution states, “all power is inherent in the people.” The decisions made in that building carry very real consequences; it’s up to real Kansas to ensure they’re good ones.
