As most of you know in April of this year at 18 months old, my baby boy was diagnosed with Opsoclonus Myoclonus Ataxia Syndrome or OMAS for short.
We spent 9 days at our local children’s hospital, and chose to transfer care to TCH to receive further treatment as our local hospital wasn’t experienced with this diagnosis but did help to get him back on track. While at TCH we did receive the proper protocol for more treatment and have been under their care since, but things haven’t gotten much better, and words and medicines have been thrown at us without the proper diagnosis. And as parents who so desperately wants nothing more than to have the baby they went to bed with on April 8th to return.. We knew we needed to take things a step further, after many talks and a lot of prayers we decided to just see if Boston Children’s Hospital would be interested in taking on Cooper’s case. Within an hour of inquiring, I was on the phone confirming appointments and telling her details of everything that he had been through. Appointments were scheduled, medical records were released and now we just wait for his upcoming appointments.
We will be in Boston for at least 4 days, while this is all new to us and I’m used to working nonstop, God has slowed me down and reminded me just how much I needed to lean on and trust Him during this season. Above all else we ask for prayers for our baby boy and us as we travel to continue to get him the care he needs.
