This one really struck my curiosity when we visited the Maldives… 🇲🇻

The number of cats in the streets, at least in the areas we were in, was a lot. It was actually the second most surprising thing to me in the country.

Some were adorable and cute, many were fairly humanised, and only one of the cats in this series ran at me, can you guess which one?

It’s fair to say, these cats are wildly different from my cat at home. These cats are on the street, dodging people and trying to survive. Some get help, others don’t. It’s unfortunate to see so many, and I don’t know why it happens so much here.

However, I hope@you enjoy seeing something different from a place known for white sand beaches and pristine blue water.

8-hour layover in Singapore… which usually means bad airport coffee and pacing around the terminal pretending you enjoy duty-free shopping.

But then I remembered something.

Changi Airport has a butterfly garden inside the terminal.

Yes. An actual tropical garden. In an airport.

So instead of sitting at the gate watching the departure board like a stressed day trader, I spent my layover wandering through greenery, chasing butterflies with a camera like a slightly over-excited nature photographer.

Not the worst way to spend a layover.

Between the humidity, the flowers, and butterflies casually flying past travellers dragging suitcases, you almost forget you’re technically still in an airport.

Almost.

Safe to say this might be the only airport in the world where a missed connection could accidentally turn into a wildlife photography session.

If you ever find yourself passing through Singapore with time to spare, do yourself a favour and go find the butterfly garden. It’s tucked inside Terminal 3 and somehow turns an airport stop into a mini nature escape.

Layover photography missions: highly recommended.

There’s magic in seeing glow worms surrounded by the rainforest, especially here at Natural Bridge.

While you’re there, it may not feel like it in the early evening, surrounded by tourists being bussed in, fumbling in the dark and being told to turn your light off by just about everyone.

When it quietens down though, that’s when you feel it. Just nature doing its thing.

As of right now, my bags are packed and I’m headed on the next adventure to the Maldives & Singapore. While we were meant to head through the UAE, that got changed.

Now I’ve got a question for you. What are my must-see spots in the Maldives & Singapore? Let me know in a comment.

Thanks for joining me the night these were taken.
These were all taken on the R5 and 35mm f/1.8 macro.

Over the past few days, I’ve been collating all of my travel images together into one catalog, and there are thousands and thousands of images, including this one from Las Vegas in 2018. The transition time between golden hour to dusk and see the car lights come on is a magical time to photograph because you can capture the balance between natural light and car lights moving through the image.
It doesn’t feel like 7 1/2 years since I last visited Las Vegas, but wow does time fly.

I have wanted to visit here and capture an image like this for a lot of years now. It was actually a bucket list destination for me that I can say has been ticked ✅, although I’ll probably go back one day because it’s just such an incredible place.

This is not monkey business…well maybe it is a little.
This is Aryshiama monkey park. It was incredible to revisit here in winter where the monkeys were playing with ice and each other.
