Survivor
Survival, some of us have survived things others can’t imagine going through and some of us have survived things that no one knows about. On my wrist I bare a very special mark, a mark known to most as a semicolon. A semicolon is used to link two sentences or similar thoughts, a spot where the author could have stopped but decided to continue the sentence. This mark, for me, has a meaning similar to that and for those of us that have them. This may not mean much to anyone who hasn’t gone through this type of survival but to some it means where we could have ended our lives but chose to keep going. There was a very long period of time where the only thing keeping me alive was my children but now, I no longer have the thoughts about taking my own life. Now I will forever be reminded of why I fight those thoughts all I have to do is look down at my wrist.
