Some stories are too important to stay untold.

When I started CHOSEN, I thought I was creating a book about rescue dogs.

Somewhere along the way, it became something more.

It's about the people who refuse to look away.
The volunteers who show up.
The fosters who open their homes.
The rescue organizations that step in when the unimaginable happens.

This page is part of the story of The Mesquite 114, one of the largest rescue efforts I've had the privilege to witness firsthand.

I still remember meeting these dogs. Despite everything they had endured, they leaned into gentle hands, accepted love, and reminded all of us what resilience looks like.

I'm so excited to finally share a few page examples from the book as it comes together.

Every rescue dog has a story.

Some stories begin with heartbreak. Others begin with hope. But every one of them deserves to be remembered.

I'm making wonderful progress on CHOSEN, my rescue dog photography and storytelling book, and every time I sit down to work on it I'm reminded why I started this project. This book isn't just about the dogs. It's about the people who changed their lives.

The volunteers who showed up.
The fosters who opened their homes.
The rescue parents who said, "You're safe now."

I'm still looking for a few more incredible rescue stories to potentially be featured. Your dog doesn't have to be famous or have survived unimaginable odds - although that's great too. Sometimes the most meaningful stories are simply about finding the family they were always meant to have.

Best of all, CHOSEN is also a fundraiser benefiting A Path 4 Paws, helping even more dogs find their own happy endings.

I love taking photos of rescue dogs. It warms my heart to help them get adopted 🥰 This session was especially happy for me as I got to spend the day with my beautiful nieces. They were great helpers, and the dogs couldn't get enough of all the belly rubs and treats!

I made the best of my editing time while watching my favorite team, the Las Vegas Aces play! And they won!

SOMETIMES, THE MOST ORDINARY-LOOKING DOGS HAVE THE MOST EXTRAORDINARY STORIES. ❤️

I know I’ve been a bit quiet on here lately, but I've been working behind the scenes on a project close to my heart. My rescue dog book is officially taking shape, and every single dog I photograph reminds me how powerful these stories are.

Now, I need your help to finish it. I'm looking for a few more rescue dogs to professionally photograph and feature!

I’m looking for unique, meaningful stories. Pups who:

🎓Today, my cousin Jacob crossed the stage and officially graduated high school, and I could not be more proud of him.

Watching him grow into the person he is today has been amazing to watch. Kind-hearted and determined, Jacob carries the kind of light that doesn’t need to shout to be noticed. Today was his moment, and he wore it well. 💙

Senior sessions like this are why I love what I do. They’re more than cap-and-gown photos. They’re little time capsules caught between “look how far you’ve come” and “your story is just getting started.”

Congratulations, Jacob. The world better buckle up - you’re just getting started. 🎉

PLEASE STOP SCROLLING FOR JUST A MOMENT AND MEET RIDDICK

Some dogs bark for attention.
Some jump against the kennel door.
Some do everything they can to be noticed.

And then there’s Riddick.

Riddick is one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever had the honor of photographing at A Path 4 Paws. Month after month, he quietly walks out of his kennel and fully understands the assignment when it’s time for photos. No fuss. No chaos. Just calm eyes, a gentle soul, and a willingness to sit there patiently while I tell him how handsome he is.

And trust me...he is handsome.

Riddick is a beautiful Shepherd mix with a heart made of pure gold. His kennel is the third one from the entrance, which means almost everyone who walks into the rescue sees him.

But very few people TRULY SEE HIM.

He doesn’t bark. He doesn’t demand attention. He simply watches people walk by with hopeful eyes, waiting for someone to stop long enough to notice the incredible dog sitting right in front of them.

Lately, I’ve noticed something heartbreaking.
Riddick doesn’t even get up anymore when people pass his kennel.

BECAUSE THEY NEVER STOP.

It feels like he’s starting to give up, and honestly, I think part of him has. He’s losing weight while also losing interest, and it absolutely breaks my heart.

Riddick is now almost 7½ years old. He has spent far too long waiting for his forever person to find him. That’s one of the reasons I felt so strongly about creating my Chosen Rescue Dog book project. I don’t think people realize how many incredible dogs are sitting in rescues, quietly waiting to be loved by ANYONE.

Riddick is loved deeply by all of the volunteers at A Path 4 Paws. But what he truly deserves is a home. A soft couch. A quiet evening beside his human. A life where he doesn't have to watch other dogs get adopted every weekend, while he is left behind AGAIN AND AGAIN.

I still believe there’s a miracle waiting for Riddick.

I still believe someone will finally SEE him.
And even more importantly...LOVE HIM.
