I'm honored to share Building the Next Nevada: Southern Nevada Leadership Roundtable. Our group portraits and collaborative article will be featured in the next issue of the Vegas Chamber Taking Care of Business magazine.

Following our previous collaborative projects: Women in Leadership, Leading Ladies in Philanthropy, and Building an Ecosystem That Responds to Employer Needs, Building the Next Nevada brings together leaders from infrastructure, transportation, healthcare, energy, finance, research, sports, gaming, and community development to document the people helping shape Southern Nevada's future.

Together, we photographed each participating leader, created a space for their stories to come together, and preserved this moment in Nevada's history.

Thank you to every participating leader for saying yes, to Bryant Thornton for co-hosting the project, to Ivan Ferraz for serving as project advisor, to Jasmine Juarez for connecting us with Circa Resort & Casino as our venue host, to Jaime Cruz for helping shape the vision behind the Nevada Leadership Archive in its early stages, and to Mary Beth Sewald for her ongoing support, trust, and for providing a platform to share these collaborative projects in the Vegas Chamber Taking Care of Business magazine.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to attend another Workforce Connections podcast and learn from the conversation between Jaime Cruz and Las Vegas Mayor Pro Tem Brian Knudsen.

As an introvert, these conversations have become a gold mine for me. I enjoy listening and learning how leaders think, how partnerships are built, and what it takes to strengthen our community.

My favorite lesson today was “follow through.”

Brian shared that when people ask him for help, he often gives them something to work on first. He said only about 5% actually follow through.

As I continue building the Nevada Leadership Archive, I’ve realized that every project depends on follow-through. Conversations may open doors, but trust is built by doing the work and keeping your commitments.

Judge Harmony Letizia: Justice, Education & Leadership

Born and raised in Las Vegas, Judge Harmony Letizia serves as Justice of the Peace for Department 3 of the Las Vegas Justice Court. Prior to her election to the bench, she served as a Chief Deputy Public Defender and was recognized among Nevada Business Magazine's Legal Elite attorneys.
Judge Letizia also presides over the Veterans Treatment Court, a program that connects veterans with specialized resources and support, achieving a success rate of over 90% among graduates.

Beyond the courtroom, she serves as Chair of The Meadows School Board, helping guide an institution dedicated to preparing students to lead and positively change the world.
What drew me to Judge Letizia's story is the intersection of justice, education, and leadership. Through her work in both the judiciary and education, she helps steward institutions that shape the present and future of Southern Nevada.
Judge Letizia recently joined the Nevada Leadership Archive, an ongoing portrait project documenting the people stewarding Nevada's institutions and the connections that make our leadership ecosystem work.

Scott Muelrath, President & CEO of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce.
Over the last few years, I found a gold mine in the Workforce Connections podcast: a Southern Nevada tribe of mentors. It has been a pleasure learning from leaders helping shape our community and Scott’s long view of leadership.
During the recession years, Scott worked closely with struggling tenants and small businesses in commercial real estate, seeing firsthand the challenges business owners faced. Later, he brought that perspective to the Henderson Chamber and helped grow it into an organization that supports businesses through connection, advocacy, workforce conversations, health plans, and entrepreneurial support: work that takes years of consistent leadership, strong partnerships, and commitment through difficult seasons.
Scott is a proud father, basketball coach for his daughter’s team, and a husband who spoke proudly about his wife’s work at UNLV, where she became the first woman to receive a full professorship in the History Department.
Thank you, Scott, for the meaningful work you have done for Henderson and the small business community over the years.

One of my favorite times each month is being at the Workforce Connections podcast: listening, observing, and learning from leaders shaping Southern Nevada.
Some conversations become part of the Nevada Leadership Archive.
Mitch Cloward, Regional President of Intermountain Health, shared a leadership journey worth learning from: from hospital housekeeper to healthcare executive, grounded in compassion, servant leadership, and a belief that every role matters.
As Southern Nevada moves toward a dedicated children’s hospital, leaders like Mitch are helping shape the future of healthcare in our region.

This year marks 10 years as a Vegas Chamber member.

When I moved to Las Vegas, I was a mom building a new life and business in a city where I knew very few people.

Over the years, the Chamber introduced me to a world of partnerships, economic development, workforce, business leadership, and the people working together to grow Southern Nevada.

I stayed close to the environment: attending events, volunteering, listening to conversations, and learning from leaders. Through Workforce Connections leadership podcasts and years of observing how people serve, build, and lead, my vision slowly became clearer.

Over the years, I found my niche: capturing the meaning behind leaders’ work: the “why,” the impact, and the body of work they dedicate their lives to building.

It has been an uncommon path for a photographer, but today I can see the vision more clearly.

As I continue creating leadership portrait projects and building the Nevada Leadership Archive, my goal is to document the leaders helping shape Nevada at this moment in time.

Grateful for the relationships, lessons, and opportunities over the last 10 years.

Southern Nevada’s continued economic development depends on a strong talent pipeline aligned with the needs of local employers.

As President & CEO of the Vegas Chamber, and a board member of both Workforce Connections and Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance (LVGEA), Mary Beth Sewald helps ensure the voice of employers is part of conversations around workforce, education, and regional growth.

I recently photographed Mary Beth as part of “Building an Ecosystem that Responds to Employer Needs,” a Leadership Portrait Series project highlighting leaders working together to strengthen Southern Nevada’s workforce and economic future.

Regional growth happens when employers, workforce development, education, and economic development stay aligned.

Grateful to support the Program again this year.
Beyond the headshots, what stayed with me was the strong sense of community: classmates helping each other, lifting one another up with encouragement and care.
This is my third year contributing, and I’m continually inspired by rooms where the next generation of Southern Nevada leaders is being shaped.
These kinds of experiences remind me why I do this work: creating portraits that capture presence and potential.

A Leadership Portrait Experience
Closing Women’s History Month with a portrait project I’m honored to share.
Leading Ladies in Philanthropy - Las Vegas
An experience where leaders are recognized, stand proudly alongside one another, and leave with timeless portraits that hold the energy of that moment.
In collaboration with Crystal Hirschi and Julie A. Murray, this portrait experience featured a group of women whose leadership shows through philanthropy and long-term impact:
Diana Bennett, Sandra Douglass Morgan, Elizabeth Blau, Blair Bigelow May, Cindy Ellis, and Christy Molasky.
Hosted at Hirschi Companies.
The session was designed to be efficient, structured, and respectful of each leader’s time, while creating both individual portraits and a meaningful sense of connection as a group.
