This past year, I had the great pleasure of working with the legendary Brian Regan

He and I have collaborated many times through the years, both in the studio, and on his live shows. He's as genuine, kind, and humble, as he's talented. Having this type of experience, and relationship is yet another of the great blessings of my professional life.

Back in 2000, when all work was still captured on film, with the only rescue available for mishaps was a total re-shoot, I shot a full spring fashion story for Las Vegas Magazine at a motel most people would drive right past.

A visionary magazine editor, a creative fashion editor / stylist, great Glam Squad, very nice models, and about as unglamorous a location as you could pick. That contrast was the whole point. Good work doesn't need a five star backdrop, it needs talented people who know what they're doing, the right setup and lighting.

Swipe through and see what we pulled out of the Bonanza Lodge.

Some days you swim through it, some days you rise above it, some days you're barely able to keep your head up. It all counts. That's your Light doing what it was designed to do.

When I was asked to shoot the Trands USA campaign last year, I was also invited to dust off my ‘back-in-the-day’ shoes.

I went from behind the camera to getting groomed by the uber talented before arriving on set. Felt good to have fun playing model again….what do you think?

NOTE: Pics with my hand in my pocket are self-portraits, the one of me dancing was captured by my trusted assistant,

Another set of oldies but goodies captured on medium format film (look it up) for your eyes to feast on.

Many years ago, the summer that I moved to Milan for an in-and-out two-year stay, I arrived there in July when things get ready to shut down for summer vacation. Vacation is this weird thing that many Europeans do, in taking an entire month off, to enjoy living. So weird! 😂 I digress…

Since all the key players in the magazine editorial world that I was hoping to connect with were all out of town, it was recommended that I do the same, and check out Lisbon, where some folks would be at their posts.

So I headed to beautiful Portugal where I met with a few agencies, and book a handful of test shoots with some seasoned models. A makeup & hair artist, along with a stylist joined forces with me and we made these images with no assistants, no additional lighting or reflectors even…just natural light as I found it, where I organically placed the talent in their ‘scenes’.

What do you think , and which is your favorite?

Another ‘back in the day’ fashion editorial that I enjoyed shooting under the art direction of Amy Schmidt, and the style direction of superstar lifetime collaborating fashion stylist:

This is another case of having to hone your craft, to have the ability to find the combination of available light, background, and space to place the models in. To give them the stage to live in.

Let me know which one is your favorite, and if you feel that AI can deliver photos that make you feel close to the models on your screen.

I love this one because there's more in that chair than what you see in this frame.

AaliyahHaughton is a WNBA champion, and she's also a proud citizen of the Gun Lake Tribe, the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians. She brings all this talent and identity with her, part of the same presence that makes her impossible not to watch. This is a big part of why I love what I get to do. One week I'm shooting a dancer mid air, another a campaign for a major brand, the next a WNBA champion proudly carrying her tribe with her onto that basketball court.

This was part of a fashion editorial captured in my 'working with film' days

No Photoshop.
No AI to manage or fix anything.
No second chance if any part was off.
I had to find the light, or create it, get the composition right, and what was in my camera was what was there to choose from and go to print once a frame was selected.

I had to really know what the f...I was doing! I still do! 🤩😊

This was photographed at the Gilcrease Orchard, in Las Vegas, where a high school now stands. A beautiful location gone, many years ago.
