It was tough but we managed to get some laughs from the baby thanks to Mom. 1 year birthday shoots can be a challenge but they’re still so much fun and great to have as a memory forever.

I wanted to continue showing some love to the parents. It’s easy to neglect the couple’s portraits amidst the chaos of shooting the family especially with younger kids but ive worked to make it a bigger focus in our family sessions

That light came in at the perfect time to create magic!

A lot of times the photos of just the parents ends up getting pushed to the end of the session but at that point everyone is tired and over taking photos. I’ve started making the couples photos more of a priority to showcase the magic that is still there. Lately I’ve been doing these photos earlier in the shoot while the parents are still fresh and in a good mood and it gives the kids a chance to take a break before the next set of poses. Doing that has produced better results with the couples portraits for me

Here’s another one from this shoot with plenty to share. This location ended up being a favorite and chosen by quite a few of my families this year which is funny because in years past it was never chosen when I’d show an example. I think in the future it will be chosen now. It just creates such great photos!

That special mother daughter bond.

Their outfits were on point and matched the location so well. There was so many great photos from this session so I’m sure I’ll be sharing plenty of them

Those eyes though!

She gave us about 20 mins of solid pictures before she had enough. I don’t blame her though. It was cold and windy that day. We went from T-shirts to jackets in the span of one week. You can’t control the weather but no matter the conditions I’m coming away with some great photos for your family

Even though I’ve done many shoots in this location, I’m still able to find new looks and perspectives. It was a cold and windy day this weekend and as we were finishing up we took a trail which I thought might be a shortcut to the final spot. Instead of going where I was planning we stopped here which ended up being much better. I’m not sure why I hadn’t checked this vantage point yet but it will now be a stop every time I shoot here

This one did so great this year. She used to hate taking photos but this year she was all about it especially when asked to hold the baby. I love seeing how different a child can be each year. Maybe it just took 4 years for her to warm up to me lol
