I recently had the opportunity to visit an abandoned mining town in Wyoming called Sunrise. Strolling through the site, it was quite inspiring to contemplate the history of this land and the people who lived and worked here. It was walking back in time, looking through the old buildings, and seeing the remnants of the homes.

Since its inception, I've given my time as the volunteer "computer programmer" for the Wyoming Territorial Prison State Historic Site holiday light display. The show continues to grow and expand every year, and every year the show gets more popular. I hope that this year's show will bring a positive end for 2020!

Some dance in the parking lot with their children. Some bring pizza or hot cocoa and turn it into a date night. But 10,000 lights do a lot to bring the community together, at an unexpected historic state site.

I've had enough with the Adobe licensing changes. Although Lightroom is a good product, for a hobbyist like myself, it just costs too much. I'm looking to move my workflow to open source products.

That being said, I'm moving my photography workflow to
Ubuntu Studio + Darktable + The Gimp.
The money saved on Adobe fees is now free to be invested in gear.

Any Darktable photographers out there?
