This may come as a surprise, but Lancaster Theological Seminary is one of my favorite places to photograph events. Those with different sets of beliefs, members of the queer community, and even folks with no religious affiliation or faith are warmly welcomed and accepted here. I may not be a religious person in adulthood, but there’s no denying that the service I attended (to photograph) included a healing ceremony which moved me deeply. You can see the incredible emotion of the ceremony in the photos at the end of this set. I feel lucky and honored to create photo work for so many different types of organizations, especially the ones that help me expand my comfort zone.
Lancaster Theological Seminary's Alumni/ae Day on May 3 brought together old friends and new graduates and featured a tribute to David Mellott, presentation of the Meck and Moss Awards to Holly MillerShank '04 and David Mateo '13, a workshop "Essentials for Flourishing in Ministry" with Kim Bloom from the University of Notre Dame, and a special healing service with Rev. Wanda Craner '86. Enjoy the photos by Michelle Johnsen Photography - https://www.lancasterphotocollective.com/Michellejohnsenphotography/Ltsalumbrunch2019/

So happy to see Lancaster Public Art projects like this mural by Salina M. Almanzar and Osmyn Oree as a part of neighborhood revitalization!! Proud to see my photos of this great work being shared by LNP + LancasterOnline today! Thanks to Joanna Davis for bringing local artists in on these projects, we truly appreciate it!
Lancaster’s Office of Public Art is intimately involved in some of the city’s most prominent upcoming projects, public art manager Joanna Davis told City Council this week.

It was my pleasure to photograph the wonderful Women of Color Brunch at City Hall this past weekend! It was a morning filled with amazing women telling powerful stories, and I’m especially so grateful I could be there to witness another brilliant performance by the one and only Gracie Berry!
Thank you Michelle Johnsen Photography for these lovely photos of the Women of Color Brunch.
I’m not saying you can buy my vote, but you can certainly buy head shots for your campaign:)

Please tell me you want a photo session like this! Lol @ Lowe’s.
All images were manipulated via external prism! I used a 3in rectangular prism, a 1in prism ring, and a rainbow light catcher held in front of the lens.

I loved getting to photograph each shop on the 300 Block of North Queen Street in Downtown Lancaster! It was so fun to meet everyone and it was my first time in most of the shops. Thanks Nick Reiner for bringing me on!
A truly special gift for a special occasion calls for a visit to Lancaster's #indieretail experience, such as at the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen on the 300 Block of North Queen Street in Downtown Lancaster. #the300block #shoplocal #shopsmall #downtownlancaster #momandpopsoflancaster

New York Times most compelling photos of the year.
The story behind a photo is often as compelling as the image itself. Sometimes more! Stories give context and depth to our art- I’m so grateful I have the chance to meet so many amazing people and tell their stories ❤️
Looking back, moving forward: Our editors picked the compelling images that capture the year.
I’m really proud of the photo work I did for Lancaster City’s Strategic Plan website! Check it out here:
Thanks Danene Sorace, Mayor of Lancaster, City of Lancaster, PA Government, Matt Johnson, Libby at Modern Art, DJ at Mighty Fine Print, and Silas Crews for making it all happen!
