Let me introduce myself. My name is Justin, I’ve been a professional commercial and corporate photographer for over 20 years now. You could say I like what I do. I love to capture moments in time of someone showing their passion in life.

Personally, I am a husband to my wife Rachel for 13 years now and we have an awesome daughter who is 6. We are German shorthair pointer owners, he is great and energetic, iykyk.

I want to share another amazing story from one of the women that I was able to meet and photograph for the mini campaign Mammos Save Moms.

Meet Lila, she is one of the many moms that was selected to have their story of fighting breast cancer told to inspire more moms to get screened. Cancer is an all too familiar diagnosis in Lila’s family. Her mother, grandmother and aunt all faced breast cancer. With such a strong family history, Lila started annual mammograms at the age of 37. Four years later, a mammogram detected the disease in its early stages. She says her 10 and 13-year-old boys are the best things that have ever happened to her and she’s not about to let cancer come between them.

Mammograms Save Moms was a campaign I photographed for 2 years in a row for Centura Health years ago. We had the honor of sharing their stories to help more moms get checked sooner.

Mammograms Save Moms was a mini-campaign that was launched during the month of May to raise awareness for
Centura Health Breast Care’s mammography services. The campaign featured three patients each year for 2 years. As a result of the campaign, Centura
Health Breast Care Centers had an uptick in mammography appointments, phone calls to schedule and website visit that
replaced October (Breast Cancer Awareness Month) as the busiest month of the year for volume.

Isabell Coy has dedicated her life to helping people achieve their best health. The medical assistant knows first-hand the value of preventive care, so when it came to her own health screenings, she completed them faithfully. Last March was no exception. She had her yearly mammogram and didn’t think anything of it.
When Isabell received notification that radiologists wanted to take a closer look, she wasn’t nervous. She’d made that very phone call to other women telling them they needed to get rechecked. For her second appointment, Isabell had both a 3D mammogram and an ultrasound. One week later, she learned she would need to come back a third time, only this time for biopsies.

“I think when you are dealing with your patients, it’s a lot different, but when it’s you, you forget everything,” said Isabell. “You turn into a patient. You forget your background, I was just scared.”

Isabell bravely faced five months of chemotherapy followed by 30 radiation treatments. Nothing about Isabell’s journey - the disease, the surgeries, nor the treatments were easy - but Isabell realized that if she wanted to be there for all the little moments that mean the world to a mother, she would have to fight her cancer aggressively.

I love how there is a story behind ever photography project I capture. I was commisioned to photograph this well site on the western slope by

It was requested that I light the rig in yellow/golden light to help and bring awareness to Childhood Cancer Awareness.

Every time I have photographed one of their sites for a different cancer awareness it is because one of the crew members has had a family member who has been diagnosed with that type of cancer.

I think we captured this rig the best we could. Talk about great colors all around. I lit the rig with a lot of yellow light, which is contrasted perfectly by the dark blue sky, and some of the afterglow on the horizon. As an added bonus the moon the moon burst was almost as nice as a sun burst.

Thursday we made it to our yearly spring break tubing in Fraser, before our coffee stop at
Not much snow left for a day of tubing, but we did get some pond skimming in this trip. We had a blast and giggled the whole day.
