The Life of Kit Carson, The Embodiment of American Expansionism (booklet; CD; DVD) is an educational, practical summary about the life of Kit Carson establishing his and the author’s common Scots Irish ancestry, the same who significantly impacted Kit’s life and American “Manifest Destiny.” It provides an honest portrayal of the man known and respected by his contemporaries, yet sets the record
straight against revisionist historians who unfairly judge him by modern standards. The educational portion is a booklet and/or CD/DVD approximately 50 minutes long with narration and images that reveal Kit’s lifetime characteristics, achievements and resourcefulness, loves and friendships, as well as his failures and misgivings. When combined with the Ballad, as described below, another 16 minutes of entertainment is added. Our Beloved Kit Carson (CD/DVD), An American Frontier Ballad, is an original musical and/or video production with assistance from my longtime friend Joe Hall, along with other talented individuals. My credentials as a historian and in the music industry are limited and known mostly by family, friends and a small number of acquaintances. Nevertheless, this talent was the inspiration needed to honor my distant relative, Kit Carson, in a unique manner that no other person heretofore has produced. After learning early in life from my grandmother that her mother (Sarah Esadiah “Sadie” Carson Skinner) was Kit’s niece, I began an endeavor to fully grasp and understand the relatively well-known mountain man and explorer Kit Carson and his special place in American history. Over the years, I have read and reread numerous biographies and articles and visited several sites with monuments or historical references to Kit, taking many photographs along the way. I hope you will enjoy and find educational benefit from this production honoring my distant, ancestral relative Christopher Houston “Kit” Carson.
