What happens when an ancient, stoic stone golem meets glamorous ladies who seem to have wandered straight out of a 1950s romantic comedy?

You get one of my favorite mixed-media pieces to come off the gel plate recently.

Part of the joy of creating original art is watching a story come together layer by layer—from the smoky blues of the stone figure to the vintage wallpaper patterns rolled across the background using a vintage bottle. This piece was pulled by hand onto heavy 300g watercolor paper specifically designed to be framed and hung.

"A little romantic, mournful, and slightly haunted." 🌊🖤

My newest original piece was inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s Annabel Lee—bringing together layered acrylics, delicate tea bag paper, and subtle fragments of the poem emerging through the deep violet and sky textures.

Here is a quick look at pulling a multi-layer painted, mirrored laser transfer onto wet-strengthened teabag paper! Masking the faces and hands preserved crisp black details, while the unmasked background allowed the turquoise text and gold accents to interact directly with the paint. 👇
