Days 3, 4, and 5 of our adventure.
After staying the night in Flagstaff, AZ, we moved on to Winslow, AZ. We found a couple trains, some vintage Santa Fe equipment, and a 9/11 memorial. Pushing on in snowy conditions, we caught an EB oil train just across the New Mexico state line.
Getting off of I-40 at Santa Rosa, NM, where we spent the night, we found ourselves in Clovis, NM. There was a neat steam engine display there. Across the Texas border in Dimmitt, TX, a couple former WP GP35's work a grain elevator. Hereford, TX is the home of a GP39-3 and a GP50 for the BNSF. Further North, in Etter, TX, we found the Texas Northwestern. A railroad that specializes in railcar storage and uses primarily SD40's for motive power. A short jaunt through the Oklahoma panhandle didn't turn up any trains, but we did find a Rock Island caboose near it's former trackage. Kansas brought us an ADM GP parked at another grain elevator. One last train before sunset, and we stayed the night in Pratt, KS.
Day 5 brought us to Santa Fe Junction in Kansas City Missouri. There we caught trains from Union Pacific, BNSF, and Kansas City Southern, and Kansas City Terminal, including a BNSF Coal, Intermodal, and Manifest all at once. Turning back West, we find ourselves in Lincoln, NE as we head for North Platte, NE tomorrow.
