💜Mindful Minis Photography began with an idea of inclusive family photography. It began with my observations of families, children, & our community--we needed more options when it came to the process of having photos taken.
As I take on life as mother, therapist, and a keen observer of pediatric therapies & child development--I saw a need. A need for children wearing AFOs and SMOs (types of leg braces) to be represented in play.
There is a need to help children adjust to the idea of AFOs, especially when they are being fitted for them for the first time. There is a need for children without AFOs to play with dolls & stuffies with AFOs--because assistive devices are normal & need to be normalized. There is a need for children who are new to wearing AFOs to feel more confident & less anxious about them. There is a need for all children to know and learn what AFOs/SMOs are so that they can approach their peers without judgement.
At only $10 (when Etsy asks $40/pair), you can have a pair for your child's dolls or stuffed animals. Your child need not have AFOs or SMOs--but you can begin to incorporate assistive devices in their play to build non-judgement & educate them about how other children may need to wear them.
Pediatric OT, PT, SLP, educators, counselors & social workers--these are a great addition to your offices/classroom/gyms.
