As long as I can remember I’ve always enjoyed tinkering with LEGOs. Whether they be preassembled kits (which I still occasionally buy and build, especially any of the Pirate themed ones), or just random pieces to see what I can create. For a while we even had a LEGO city in our basement, till Kashi “grew up” and now that space has become his golf simulator area. But as for me as a kid, I even remember going to LegoLand Denmark coming back from India as we had a couple days of layover in Copehagen, Denmark, so we boarded a bus from our hotel and made the 3 hour bus ride for a day to go to visit! One of the highlights of my youth for sure!

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until Jan 25, 2026 until 6PM, CST SUNDAY.

WHAT...Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations between 6 and 12 inches.

WHERE...Portions of south central and southwest Illinois and central, east central, and southeast Missouri.

IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible.

So went out like an idiot to Dierbergs (a local grocery store chain here in St. Louis, MO) on Friday evening to pick up the essentials. Felt like it was an hour before the stores close on Christmas Eve!

Woke up this morning to already an inch or two of snow on the ground (with accumulations up to 10+ inches expected) so I hopped on the computer and made this from my expedition to the grocery store yesterday....

Getting to try out a new camera. But it costs just as much as a new car... But I do get a photo that I got to try it out at least! LOL! It’s 17K of resolution and the body itself is $24,195! Then you have to get a lens, batteries and other accessories to make it functional!! 😵‍💫

Run and Gun Photography:

From my days of being a TV News Photog this was quite common. But with a DSLR this is just one attempt at run and gun photography which is a fast-paced, adaptable style of capturing images in dynamic, often unpredictable environments, prioritizing my skills and instinct (talent over gear) to get shots quickly (especially when you’re in the middle of the street, and safety is the utmost concern), rather than relying on extensive setups, perfect lighting, or multiple retakes, often seen in street, event, or military photography such as airshows where mobility and quick reactions are the name of the game, and to think I made it on a fellow photographer’s shot list!

SIDENOTE: FYI, where the cars are stopped the road is actually closed off,,, So no chance of getting run over! 🚗🚕🚓😁
