This photo was taken by my wife just a few minutes after our beautiful baby girl Elina (aka Ellie) made her entrance into the world on December 4, 2018 at 1230am. As a resident family doctor at the time, I had the privilege of playing an active role in her delivery and was the first to hold our precious baby girl. There is nothing else in life that can prepare you for that moment. Our hearts were bursting with pure joy as we admired our little girl, while she opened her eyes and explored her surroundings for the first time. She brought so much love and light into our lives and had the most beautiful smile. We looked forward to a lifetime together.

Our little Ellie passed away suddenly and very sadly at just 5 weeks of age. We continue to celebrate Ellie and talk about her everyday. We are so grateful for all the support we have received. Looking back, we have realized that if we were given the chance to relive those 5 weeks over and over again, knowing the heavy grief journey that lay ahead, we would go back in a heartbeat to experience the overwhelming joy we shared with Ellie.
