This one was extra special ✨ Rachel realized after her wedding that she didn’t have as many bridal portraits of just her in her dress—and she wanted to preserve more of those memories. I loved this idea, and I was so happy to help bring her vision to life!

Since she got married down south in Tennessee, we wanted a spot that carried a little bit of that rustic, timeless vibe. After some site visits, we landed on Linn Nature Park in Linn, WI. It had great open green spaces and these gorgeous historic silos that felt just right.

During the week of your session, I’m always watching the weather like a hawk and keeping an eye out for anything wild that might pop up. I think it’s so important to keep my clients updated in case we need to make a rain call. (Now, I’m always game to shoot in the rain if it fits your vibe...I even keep a rain jacket for my camera!) The morning of Rachel’s shoot, storms rolled through out of nowhere!! But just as quickly as they showed up, they disappeared—and luckily, things cleared up and we were gifted the most beautiful golden hour skies.

As a Northern Illinois + Wisconsin photographer, I’m always down to bring unique ideas like this to life—whether that’s a bridal session after your wedding, an anniversary shoot, or something totally outside the box.

Role reversal! ✨ Every once in a while, I get to step out from behind the camera and let my husband play photographer. After a bike ride on our annual trip up north to the Willow Flowage in Hazelhurst, WI, we picked some wildflowers—and then he grabbed the camera to make a little magic of his own. 🌼

It’s always fun seeing his perspective and ideas come through—it’s a reminder that storytelling photography isn’t just about technique, but about slowing down, noticing, and capturing the simple moments.

And yes, if you swipe to the last photo, you’ll see me trying to smile while mosquitoes were eating me alive...anything for the shot, right? 😂

Family, laughter, and a whole lot of lawn games—what more could you ask for?

In July, the Ermer crew gathered in Sun Prairie, WI at Smith’s Crossing Community Park for an afternoon of potluck food, yard games, and plenty of stories shared. It’s not often we get everyone together like this, which made this reunion extra special.

From sibling photos to cousin chaos to one big group shot, it’s a reminder of why I love photography in the first place—preserving the real, fleeting moments with the people who matter most. ✨

So excited to share these photos of the Lempke Family, some of my April giveaway winners!

When Lauren told me her family was dreaming of prairie grasses or pine trees for their session, I knew we had to find the perfect spot. So, I dove into research and quickly realized that Retzer Nature Center in Waukesha had it all. Open prairies? Check. Peaceful pine groves? Check. Basically, the best of both worlds!

I always want my families to feel completely confident about the spot we choose for their session, so I’m happy to do the research and scout locations ahead of time. Even if I’ve been to a location before, I make a point to check it out again—trails can change, wildflowers can bloom differently, and sometimes areas are closed for conservation. Scouting ahead lets me plan the flow of the session, find the best light, and imagine all the little moments we’ll capture. It also gives families peace of mind, knowing the spot we’ve chosen will work perfectly for them and their kids.

Happy birthday to my favorite human who I just love 🖤 These photos weren’t taken for his birthday, but since we snapped them back in May after a family shoot with my sister, I figured today was the perfect excuse to finally share them.

We were at Scuppernong Springs Nature Trail which honestly is one of my FAVORITE places I’ve photographed a session at so far. The old ruins mixed with layers of colorful graffiti made for such a cool backdrop, especially for an artsy person like me. As a Wisconsin photographer, I’d LOVE to shoot here again—it’s seriously that badass.

For his birthday, my husband would loveee if you booked a photoshoot with me. But make sure to also send him lots of birthday wishes too 😉✨

On one of the hottest days of summer, the Babica family braved the sun with me and we leaned into the sweat, the giggles, and the joy of this season. Mallary had the sweetest vision behind the location—a “SON-flower” maternity shoot to celebrate their baby boy on the way 🌻

This sunflower maternity session at Tom’s Farm Market in Algonquin, IL, was short, sweet, and full of laughter. As a Northern Illinois + Wisconsin photographer, I love getting to document families and soon-to-be parents in a way that feels unposed, natural, and true to their story.

Late night post coming at you to talk about my experimental style! I’ve also been sitting on this image of Scotty and I forever anddddd just have to finally share it 🖤

You could say I’m technically trained but intentionally playful and even a little rebellious as a photographer. Before I started bending the rules, I did make sure I knew them well. I studied photography in college and soaked up all the textbook lighting, composition, and camera deets. But over time, I’ve found that the magic often lives outside the lines.

I lean into blur, movement, double takes, and alll that beautiful chaos in between the poses. Multiple exposures (like this one 👇🏼), shutter drag, shooting through glass or objects, color gels, direct flash, unexpected angles—these aren’t just gimmicks. They’re how I make you feel something.

Sure, I understand not every experimental image will be everyone’s personal taste for a big, framed wall piece—everyone has their own style for what lives in their home. But I guarantee these are the moments you’ll throw on your phone lock screen. Your laptop wallpaper. The ones you’ll share with your closest people because they take you right back to how it felt and make you feel like you’re living in a piece of art.
