New beginnings! (I will have some big news for you very soon - and also a favor to ask, which has nothing to do with birds. So please watch this space.)
But for now, more about this photo. This weekend, I was fortunate to spend time on Egmont Key photographing new-hatched oystercatcher chicks - only a few days old!
It’s an honor to be the featured artists for the Friends of the Tampa Bay National Wildlife Refuges. I’m so grateful to Pat for letting me know about the chicks, for riding the Hubbard's Marina Ferry with the entertaining crew pointing out all the dolphins swimming along us, and for the privilege to be among wild nature. This time, I was the first to discover new sea turtle tracks leading up to a nest besides documenting the precious oystercatcher family.
Nature reminds us that after all the darkness, despite all the hardships, there is always new life - as long as we continue to respect and protect it. May you find something today that gives you awe, something you find worth protecting, something that makes you want to start fresh or push forward.
And may you please give a lot of space to all the shorebirds nesting on our beaches right now!
I took these photos with a very long lens and still cropped them.
