I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately about what I feel comfortable putting on the internet, especially when it comes to children.
From this point forward, I’ve decided that I will not be posting recognizable photos of children on my photography page. This applies even when a parent or guardian has given me permission to share them. I’ll also be revisiting some of my older galleries and working on hiding or obscuring little faces where necessary.
The way technology and AI have evolved has honestly changed the way I look at sharing photos online. Things that seemed harmless a few years ago don’t necessarily feel harmless to me anymore. Once an image is public, I have no say in where it goes, who saves it, or what someone may eventually use it for.
And truthfully, I’ve reached the point where I’m not even comfortable putting many photos of my own children out there after everything that has recently come to light. If I’m making that choice for my own kids, I feel it’s only right that I extend that same level of caution to the children of the families who trust me.
I want to make one thing VERY clear though: I am not stepping away from family sessions, milestone sessions, newborns, or photographing your babies and children. I still absolutely love capturing those memories, and that part of my business isn’t going anywhere. ♥️
What is changing is what happens after your session. Those images will remain private and will not be used publicly on my social media, website, advertisements, or other promotional content, even if you previously gave me permission to share them.
If I ever do share a session that includes children, I’ll make sure the images are captured or edited in a way that does not make the child easily recognizable.
Maybe some people will think I’m being overly careful, and honestly, I’m okay with that. When it comes to protecting kids, I’d rather take the extra step every single time.
Your memories are still safe with me. Your children’s privacy just matters more to me than having content for my feed. ♥️
Thank you for understanding this change and for trusting me to document the moments that mean the most to your family.
