Happy New Years friends! We are beginning this year with 300+ new friends on Facebook as we had at the beginning of 2020 so we thought we’d introduce ourselves!

We are William, Kristen and Genevieve! 2018 was a pivotal year for us. 3 years ago today we announced a pregnancy after a long struggle with infertility only to have to inform family and friends that we miscarried a day later. 27 days later we receive a frantic call about a mother in labor who wanted US to adopt her baby and we said yes. We named her Genevieve after my grandmother.

During all of this Kristen and I were both working 60-70 hours a week in medicine. To say that it was hard is an understatement - plus we had a newborn.

Fall 2018 I was told I had metastatic cancer.

This is where it gets nutty. (As if it wasn’t already 🤣)

We drew a line in the sand and said “ENOUGH.” October 2 we interview for a new job and ask to split it. Not only were we asking for a job arrangement that didn’t exist I came clean in the interview and said I had cancer. They hired us on the spot. October 5 I have part of my right lung removed. October 8 we receive the offer letter. October 9 I find out it IS NOT cancer. October 12 we finalize Genevieve’s adoption.

Through all of this, the thing that kept us going other than Jesus and coffee was making. Medicine empties you out. You see this all over the news regarding the mental well-being of front line workers. Making fills us back up.

This is where we need your help. We want our small corner of social and the internet to be a place you where you WANT to show up. In our stories today there will be several “this or that” polls and some response questions. Please leave your feedback! It will help greatly to inform what we share going forward.

Something magical happens when you freeze dry skittles. It’s kind of hard explain. They pop like popcorn, taste like skittles and get the texture of a cheetoh.

We first heard of this magic from The King of Random - then mom bought a freeze dryer.

Me being, well, ME I had to create a logo (inspired by the fairly odd parents and Stevens universe) and cut it out with Cricut

It will blow your mind.

This year has been hard in many ways. We lost many points of connection that we love, photography being a big part of that. Given our day job we didn’t pursue photos. To those of you who pursued US this year though, thank you. You proved to us and those around us that even in the midst of so much chaos and uncertainty life is still unbelievably beautiful.

Here it is.

(Squealing a little on the inside.)

This has been something we’ve wanted to do for a LONG time and something we’ve hinted at in the past on social media.

We started a YouTube channel.

A couple of things it hopefully will be:
• A place where you will be entertained, encouraged and empowered to try something new.
• A channel that references Harry Potter only most of the time.
• The start of Weasley’s cat influencer career.

Spooky season for the Murphys basically means one thing... the Harry Potter party is coming. (More on that in the coming days).
and photo manipulation are where I started exploring creativity digitally. Several days ago Benny from issued a photoshop challenge and I had to jump in!
Here’s my entry for the and challenge!
16 stock images were used in the process with some manual painting inside of photoshop.
