As we remember and honor the members of the ‘Greatest Generation’ who were a part of D-Day on June 6, 1944, I wanted to highlight one of those heroes. In 2024, I was asked to photograph a 100-year-old WWII veteran, Richard Canfield, at his home in San Diego so the images could be used in the project's program and other American Airlines media. Richard had been selected as a member of a group of veterans who would be honored and flown to France by American Airlines to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. It was an honor to meet a fellow U.S. Army Veteran and his family to create the images for this project. Thank you for your service, Richard, and to all the other veterans who allow us to celebrate our independence and have protected our "...unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness" today and every day. I wanted to congratulate my dear friend and colleague, Sharon Green-Ultimate Sailing, on being inducted into the the Canadian Sailing Hall of Fame. Sharon and I first met during the 1992 America's Cup in San Diego. We started working together during the 1995 America's Cup when she ask me to assist her with photography of the oneAustralia syndicate. We have continued to work together over the years on other America's Cup campaigns, the Transpac Yacht Race, and many other yacht races. One of the highlights was doing the still photography on a Disney documentary movie produced by Roy E. Disney called "Morning Light." It has been my pleasure and honor to work with one of the best photographers in the world for all these years and I hope for many more. Cheers, Sharon!
