The City of Mission Viejo, CA - Local Government always puts together a wonderful community event each year, and it includes the Pacific Symphony's "Symphony in the City" Concert. This year's concert included a performance by extremely talented soloist Kresley Figueroa and fireworks at the end of the show.

Wow! What a great start to the Pacific Symphony Summerfest Concert Series at the Great Park Live with the 4th of July Spectacular and a great performance by Air Supply. I enjoyed playing the role of a full-on rock concert photographer. I had to get a photo pass from Air Supply's tour manager and was given the usual directions to only shoot "3-n-out" or the first three songs. I then chose to do it from the "pit" in front of the stage - as all the great rock n' roll photographers do. The unusual thing was that I had the pit all to myself, since I was the only photographer covering their part of the concert.

That's a wrap on the classical concert series with the Pacific Symphony. It was my pleasure to photograph this year's concerts in the beautiful Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall. As we remember and honor the members of the ‘Greatest Generation’ who were a part of D-Day on June 6, 1944, I wanted to highlight one of those heroes. In 2024, I was asked to photograph a 100-year-old WWII veteran, Richard Canfield, at his home in San Diego so the images could be used in the project's program and other American Airlines media. Richard had been selected as a member of a group of veterans who would be honored and flown to France by American Airlines to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. It was an honor to meet a fellow U.S. Army Veteran and his family to create the images for this project. Thank you for your service, Richard, and to all the other veterans who allow us to celebrate our independence and have protected our "...unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness" today and every day. It is always a pleasure to capture the fun as Enrico Lopez-Yañez conducts the Pops concerts for the Pacific Symphony. On this night, Enrico got to work with his father, who performed as one of the Three Mexican Tenors, and it was a special evening for them and us.

In my 45-year career, this was the first time I documented a recording session, and it was fascinating to watch and listen to a group of very talented artists work to capture, as close to perfect as they could, a first cast recording of “Maya And The Magic Ring!” Thank you for trusting me to be in the room where it happened.
