It’s no secret that I’m not a photographer with a heavy social media presence. 2022 was a weird year. I realized a lot. One of my realizations was that people don’t ask me to do their photos because of how often I post on Instagram or how good I am at making reels. I’m going to work with the people who I’m meant to work with whether I post or not. While I still appreciate social media for how it connects us and is great a place to share art, it takes my focus away from what matters. It makes me less present and takes away from the intentional work I’m creating. And it takes too much time away from precious moments of my life. That’s me and I’m not going to be force myself to be something different in the name of validation, money and likes. My photography business is part of me and I want it to reflect that. I’m working on a way to use this platform for good, share my work, honor my couples while also honoring what aligns with me.
I love every one of my couples and they are worth showing off, but I’m going to do it in a different way. I see Instagram now as more of a journal and a place to reflect.
So here is my first photo journal entry of one of the most dreamy shoots with a couple that I’m so honored to know and call my friends. Alexa and Chris had a vision that mixed well with mine, then we made some magic. Nothing fills my cup more than a couple who is down for something different. No plans, just moments. Skipping rocks and frolicking barefoot. I hope for more of that for all of us in 2023. Whether it’s in front of a camera or not, let’s do more of that.
