second and grant— 2020, lafayette, La. 35mm film

this is the abandoned coburn’s supply building, documented on 35mm film in 2020. it collapsed yesterday after days of intense rain.

a little bit of history: the coburn’s supply building stood at the corner of second and grant since 1946—a family-owned plumbing supplier, brick and mortar that witnessed decades of downtown lafayette. the state bought it in 2009 for highway plans that eventually changed. there was hope it could be saved, a bill moving through the legislature, people were trying.

but we ran out of time before it crumbled.

grateful to capture this photo back then. this image was my phone’s wallpaper for years and loved the warmth of the bricks against the sky. I hope its rubble has a better future ahead

i’m so grateful to finally be able to share these behind-the-scenes stills that have been sitting in the archives. ♡

i was only there to document for a few hours, but grateful to capture these little fragments. to be in a room full of creative women, directing and adapting scenes, conceiving new ideas in the instant—that’s the magic nobody tells you about. the way we moved together, dreaming out loud, watching ’s “Disappearing Act” take shape in real time had me glowing.

and conducting scenes like it was another instrument. julie’s voice spilling into every corner, filling the space with something you could almost touch. i love capturing the in-between, the exhale between takes, the quiet concentration that lives in the margins of creation, the perfectly imperfect timing.

just creating, collaborating, building something beautiful.
