Always the best with words! Cannot wait for another session my sweet Casey Huff! 🫶🏼

Just because I love being a mom, doesn’t mean I don’t sometimes miss the carefree days when I only had myself to worry about.

And just because I feel nostalgic for those days, doesn’t mean I would ever, ever let my babies go.

Just because I talk about the hard parts of motherhood—the parts that keep me awake at night and make me cry ugly tears—doesn’t mean it's not all worth it.

And just because I know it’s worth it, doesn’t mean it’s not really dang tough sometimes.

Just because I say marriage is so much harder than I ever imagined it would be, doesn’t mean I wouldn’t choose my husband over and over again in a million different lifetimes.

And just because I love him so, doesn’t mean we don’t have growing pains that are sometimes hard to see past.

Just because I’m so, so very grateful for the endless blessings I’ve been given, doesn’t mean I can’t be frustrated that my house is never clean and my life feels so disorganized.

And just because I sometimes feel exhausted and utterly defeated by those things, doesn’t mean I don’t realize how ridiculously lucky I am.

We can feel both things, mamas. We can feel ALLLL the things.

One emotion doesn’t discount the opposite.

Venting doesn’t make us ungrateful.

Crying doesn’t make us blind to the beauty.

Struggling doesn’t make us too weak to hold the weight of this crazy, breathtaking, worry-filled, heart-filling role.

Just because I love being a mom, doesn’t mean it isn’t heavy sometimes.

And just because it’s heavy, doesn’t mean I would ever, ever give it up.

my sweet friend. 🫶🏼 her words always hit me right in my feels! and every year I’m blessed to capture her sweet family! ☀️

Something no one talks about is how dang hard it is to be an introverted mom.

Introverts thrive on alone time.
We crave quiet.
Being around a lot of people drains us.
Busyness leaves us feeling overstimulated and overwhelmed.
We like to spend time in our own heads thinking and learning and planning and dreaming.

But when you have kids, so many of those needs just aren’t possible. In fact, literally all of the hallmark needs and struggles of introverts are the very opposite of what motherhood allows.

You’re hardly ever alone.
Someone is always, ALWAYS talking about . . . something.
Noise is constant and LOUD.
And you can’t hear yourself think long enough to recharge mentally.

The same feeling of being all people-d out that often comes after a social gathering or long conversation is the same feeling you have after a day of non-stop momming—only you can’t just leave the party when you need to regroup.

If you’re anything like me, at times you might find yourself screaming inwardly (and unfortunately, outwardly at times), “CAN EVERYONE PLEASE JUST LEAVE ME ALONE FOR TWO SECONDS? CAN I PLEASE JUST HAVE A MOMENT WITHOUT HAVING TO LISTEN OR SPEAK TO ANYONE?”

It’s all just exhausting.

Being an introverted mom is really, really hard sometimes, and I know there are countless other mamas out there who feel the way I do. If that’s you, I just want you to know—you’re not alone.

I see how hard this is for you, because it’s hard for me, too. I know this role can feel like it clashes with your very nature.

I ALSO know you love and adore your babies more than absolutely anything in the world, because I do, too.

I want you to know you can do this. You can find those small moments to recharge your batteries. You can ask for help. You can grit your teeth and get through the tough times when you really just want to climb in bed or take a solo car ride to clear your mind.

You can do this, because you’re a mom. And believe me when I say . . .

There’s nothing stronger than a mother—introvert, or not.

In life it is SO important to surround yourself with GOOD people.... people that share the same values... those that you simply just enjoy being around. ☀️ Huerfano County is SO lucky to have this sweet family! So thankful they asked me to capture all of this fun + love! Not to mention they never batted an eye when I asked them all to play in the stream + get a little dirty! A few days late but i am oh so thankful for this wild little son of mine! There isn’t a day that he doesn’t make interesting {or exhausting!}, he gives the best kisses, the biggest {and most aggressive!} hugs + will have you laughing for hours with his many facial expressions!

Y’all, I’m certain there is nothing worse than watching your baby struggle with a fever + tummy issues. So thankful this weekend is behind us + cheers to catching up after a weekend of being a nurse!! Two galleries to be delivered today + tomorrow... laundry to be put away... and a few galleries being edited! Happy Monday, friends! ☀️ also, here’s a throwback to the workshop in Colorado when life felt like one big hurricane.... little did i know 2020 would be just as insane! So glad things are slowly getting back to “normal.”

Happy National Daughters Day to my VERY OWN! These two little girls have blessed my life in more ways than I could ever dream of! While I’m slightly terrified for the teenage years, I absolutely love watching them blossom! Also, to my fellow photographers... take a chance at self portraits! One of my most favorite moments to document are the very early stages. An added bonus is capturing one of your very best friends newest addition + staying after the session is complete to sit and hold the newest bundle! Keep having babies, friends. It curves my want for one more! 😉

sometimes I find it incredibly hard to pick which color option best fits an image. so often i get asked, “can I have this image in color?” more times than not an image is in black + white because the lighting wasn’t fit for a color option. other times I will give both options for different emotions! 🤍 ||
