I get it. Those announcements aren’t anything special: they don’t have a picture of you, they don’t show anything about you. In fact, most of them@Are so generic that all the schools get the same design and the only difference is the color of the foil 🤮

Yesterday, RED tried to keep a spider in the house as a pet. After much discussion, she was finally convinced to let me catch it and release it back outside, as long as I did so with her Barbie cup. *This was to help the spider feel happy

Much to the horror of some of my friends, we discover that the spider she was so in love with, was actually a brown recluse. Toddlers are magical

While discussing the events of yesterday, one of these friends shared how much his toddler dislikes bugs and recently endured a ladybug nightmare.

My girl loves her weird, creepy, crawly things, and I can't help but wonder how that was fostered, and then I remembered that for her first birthday, I located about 8 different animal costumes with the intent of dressing her up and creating portraits of my Wild One. Some of those outfits were dramatically too big (like meant for a 5 yo) but others, like this adorable ladybug costume were perfect.

So, when I heard that Misty Acres was doing a "Lady Bug Release" in their wildflower garden I jumped on the opportunity.

And then, in true Michelle fashion I promptly forgot I took these pictures and never did anything with them.

Well today, that Michelle is being outgrown, as she no longer serves me, and instead is being replaced by one that loves creating beautiful artwork and cherishes the photographs that she takes of the people she loves. More on that later.

Mom: My Senior Boy lives in hoodies, athletic shorts and ball caps, what can we do for his Senior Portraits?

Me: We can get everything about his personality, and what you want too. First, we start with the style consultation. This is where I come to you, meet him, learn about his interests, and what he loves. We will also discuss what you would love out of his senior portraits, and plan out the session along with outfits. Typically I recommend 2-3 outfits for Senior Boys, unless they are involved in lots of Extra Curriculars or we are going to a specific location that warrants a certain outfit (like your lake house and we do some portraits on the dock or your boat).

1) The Semi-Formal Outfit - this could be a suit, sports coat and slacks, or the classic Cowboy Formal of dark crisp jeans, button down and nice boots and hat. When we photograph these, his whole job is like he is a model in GQ or an the cover of an album

2) The Everyday Outfit - if he lives in shorts and hoodies, lets embrace it. This is who he is and what he loves, and seeing him authentic and genuine in his portraits will absolutely show in his face, and you will love the portraits of your son. This is also a great place so show off a really cool thing he has in his closet that he loves (like those awesome kicks, or the hand-painted leather jacket)

3) The Uniform - this is his chance to celebrate his skill and talent. Wear the sports uniform, the band uniform, the outfit of his passion.

With the increase in online purchases, social media marketing, and more people making purchasing decisions through digital means, strong product and service images are paramount to sales. Everything you offer needs to have at least 1 image (some sales platforms require 3 or more, like shopify).

For all my product photography clients, I recommend at least one image of each side of the product, and at least one of the product in use.

If you are a service provider you still have products in your business, show parts of the service and the tools you use. For example, if you are a hairstylist, you could show your chair, you cutting, shampooing or styling, your workstation, your tool drawers, etc.
