I am simply amazed with how our bodies are created to hold, grow and nurture another human being. I know we don’t always feel beautiful with all the stretching ligaments, sciatic pain and leg cramps… But seriously mama, this time is precious and you are beautiful so lets capture this sweet moment! I feel so incredibly privileged to document your baby’s Birth Story. It’s hard and totally not necess

ary to see what is happening around you while your body is doing the work it needs to. But there is a story that is going on around you. The expression on your moms face when you’re breathing through each contraction. Your birth support team who is helping you relax and whispering soothing, encouraging words to you. The strength and relief that comes during push time. The moment you set your eyes on your baby for the first time! The look of awe and respect your husband holds on his face that says “Wow, my wife is amazing!”


When I think of a fresh new baby, and how best to capture this sweet yet short newborn stage, I want my photographs to be simple but also capture the joy and love that this new little person adds to the family. Gorgeous lashes, scrunchy faces, big yawns, fuzzy shoulders, wrinkly fingers and toes, sleepy smiles…
How about how your sweet little one puts their hands on their face, sleeps with a furrowed brow or always stretches out that one leg that use to get you right in the side? The moments that show your mamas voice calming your precious babe… The moments that show the awe and excitement a new little person brings to the bunch… the moments that show really “how tiny” your now 2 year old use to be. When I meet people and tell them I’m a birth photographer, I’m usually met with responses like, “that’s amazing!” Or “I wish I would have had a birth photographer”. And then every so often I hear, “who would want that?” Which is hard to not take personally I have to admit.
But really… I don’t do it for the likes or follows (that would be depressing), I don’t do it for the approval of those who think it’s odd, I don’t even do it for the birth community (though I’m totally in support of it and have met some amazing individuals and friends).
I do it for the mamas, the babies and the families that these memories belong to. It is their legacy. Part of their healing journey and their testimony.

I’m just honored to be present and skilled to pause and preserve the moments.

Your motherhood journey is so personal and it starts way before your belly started to show as your baby grew.

We learn, we grow, we change, we mature.

Birth is something that not only brings one life but a renewing of life.
I love how the Lord always uses motherhood to teach us. Being “born again” a re-birth into a new person that is so uniquely personal.

What is a Fresh 48 session? It’s typically done within the first 48 hours after birth but can happen anytime in the 1st week of birth.

It is different than a birth story, immediate postpartum and an in home newborn session.
