Things photographer notice online when it comes to AI right now. At least I have been.

1) People are using it as a shortcut in ways that can actually hurt their brand

2) People don’t realize volume posting is only good when they are including value

3) People are breaking trust by posting portraits that look like a glass version of themselves (and if we can tell it’s fake so can their clients)

Ways I think using I could better serve brands:

1) As a brainstorming partner: Use it to draft idea lists, upcoming promotions, research on trending industry specific questions, and possible hiccups in their future planning or to explain a high level tool to them like they’re a kindergartener

2) Let it handle the mundane admin tasks, like SEO keyword research or structuring blog posts, so they can spend more time creating and connecting with prospective clients and community members

3) Stick to editing tools that remove distractions (like a rogue trash can in a photo background) rather than generating fake realities or use it to do the grammatical proofreading of any copy you’re about to publish

My Golden Rule:

Use AI to help with your workflow, never your authenticity. Keep your face, your real work, and your voice 100% human!

What type of legacy photos does the next couple of generations want to have to remember loved ones with?

After 18 years of photographing families, I believe they will want to see the real personalities and unfiltered versions of the people they love most. 💯

Do you disagree?

In truth, I’d be happy with ANY photo of the generation before me but the less filtered it is…the better.

prioritizing in order

1. Not measuring my daily worth by my productivity levels

2. Not rushing through my morning routine to get straight to work

3. Not multitasking during meals instead of savoring the food

First, I aim to use lighting to capture you at your best. The edit is just the polish.
The final piece of portrait art is always going to look like you and showcase the best you! 🖼️

The actual importing, processing and backing up the photos are other crucial steps before I ever start editing. 💻

Also, editing for portraits changes a little for each genre…for example with newborns it’s going to be a lot of reducing redness, minimizing skin blemishes from the birthing experience or removal of skin flakes (if parents desire this). It will also involve composites (merging two photos together) to ensure newborn safety at all times. 🐣

It’s hot out today, and I needed a deliberate escape. This tastes exactly like a vacation in the sun.

Sometimes, when you can’t physically escape to a beach, you just have to create the atmosphere right where your feet are planted. Taking 5 minutes to slow down, mix something beautiful, and just sit in the warmth.
