I love dog walking! I have redefined what it is. Just give me a park and I work on the “smarts” as well as cardio when we are walking. This is Piper. She is spectacular! I have a lot of goals for her. I want her to climb that ladder, I’m conditioning her to being up high and on some funny surfaces and soon he may play basketball. Piper is a perfect example that dog walking should including walking, but we also need some fun a games for the dog.

January Calendar Image - White Flower. White images require soft beautiful lighting and exposure adjustment. This photo was taken in a backyard garden during early morning light. Morning dew was everywhere, which always adds interest to a photo. Finding focus on an all white image takes patience. Exposure adjustment meant shooting 1-2 stops more open - the camera wants to make this flower gray, by opening up your aperture the white come out clean and bright. Additional sharpness and lighting adjustment can be made on the computer in Lightroom and Photoshop. Clean White high quality paper stock complete the image for the calendar.

2021 Calendar Cover - a monarch butterfly. So the first tip I can share about butterflies, is to learn about your subject. This summer I got the opportunity to watch Monarchs come out of their crysalisis. It was fascinating. The wings come out moist and need time to dry so the butterfly is quite still from 5 minutes to a half hour - perfect time to photograph!!! Much easier than me chasing the butterfly from plant to plant! So I prepare myself by having a flower ready for the butterfly, and I hoped lighting would be perfect. I fired off as many photos as I could until the butterfly flew off. Great experience. After the photoshoot I bring all the images into Lightroom and Photoshop and tweek everything I can to make everything perfect. Photographing butterflies is a very beautiful, joyful, satisfying experience. It was my favorite experiences all summer, had to be the cover of the calendar!
