Obligatory lunar eclipse photos from early 03-13-2025. The "blood red" color doesn't develop until the eclipse reaches near totality which is why the 1st photo appears black & white. 3rd photo, at 1:58 is totality.

I arrived at the comet party late, but was determined to catch some images. The Hunter's full moon was making the ever fading comet harder to see each night, so I determined to get some shots before the moon rose, but yet the comet was visible. I walked up our driveway and aimed at the far bluff of our very steep, very narrow valley. As I took photos over the next few minutes, I noticed the light was oddly shifting. The full moon was still below the bluff at my back, but its intense light was acting like a spotlight aimed down the length of the valley, illuminating the beautiful fall colors along the bottom and far bluff, but not "blowing out" the comet and stars in the sky. Image is 10 stacked 8 second exposure shots.

A few weeks ago, the Perseid meteor showers were at their peak, AND solar activity was making for high Aurora numbers even this far south. I set out to get a photo that has the Aurora, the Milky Way AND a meteor and BOOM! Right in my own back yard I hit the trifecta. And a bonus- that bright oval midway between the Milky Way and the end of the meteor is the Andromeda galaxy.
