I just returned from spending a few days on the Eastern NC Coast. Yes, during the Nor'Easter. I didn't visit the beach, but that wind would knock you down! However, It was well worth the trip as I was able to see some of the red wolves at The Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge. This refuge is a critical habitat for the endangered red wolf, which has seen a population of about 30 individuals as of August 2025. We visited there last year and only saw one at a distance, to far to photograph. I feel very blessed to have seen a few this year! This was definitely on my bucket list to capture a photograph. These are best viewed by clicking on each individual photo. The photos were taken with a super long lens and they are heavily cropped. ENJOY, I sure did!

I found a few bears in Cades Cove Monday evening late as the light was fading fast. This Momma Bear had two cubs along with her. They were doing some posing for the crowd that was gathered. PSA: Photos were taken from a safe distance with long lens and cropped.

I'm glad I was able to get this bull before he started fighting during the rut last week and ended up on the losing end with broken tines. These photos were taken with a LONG Lens and cropped. Please don't be "that person" and try to take a close up unless you have the proper camera equipment. Especially during the rut when the bulls are easily excited. There have been several close calls in the last few days. Keep your distance! Taken near Oconaluftee Visitors Center.
