I wanted to share a few of my faves from a recent maternity sesh. I love this family so much. I first met them when big sister was in mommy's belly. I have been blessed to shoot newborn, toddler, family, college grad, and even secret elopement photos along the way. Getting to know my clients is one of my favorite things.
That said, a few people have contacted me about closing Shutter Sprite. No fear guys! We are not closed, just not participating in the hustle. I'm finding my balance, being a mom and shooting clients that come to me, because they want me, or me and Jason.
I'll be sharing more love soon: a senior sesh, and engagement sesh, not to mention some wedding photos from this past year that I loved but never posted.
Thanks for staying with me (and Jason) bc I could never abandon photography, it's in my DNA.

4 years ago, Jason and I shot our first wedding together. We have so many great memories from shooting together and meeting fun couples. That makes today’s wedding bittersweet, because today was our last scheduled wedding for who knows how long. We decided a while back to stop advertising or doing styled shoots, or really anything to “push” the business. We had to make a choice to put more into the growth of Shutter Sprite or to step back and put more into the growth of our children. It seems like an easy decision, but it wasn’t. I love photography. I have loved owning and growing my business for more than ten years. But more than shooting, I love my children. Now is the time that I pour into their lives, helping with school, taking them to sports, and just BEING with them, being present with them. I hope to still shoot the occasional wedding with my forever wedding date. For now, though, we are calling it. Thank you to everyone who has trusted us to capture your love. It’s been a good run. And thank you to to all of the wonderful people who have let me be your photographer for the last 10 years. Now, I’m off to be a devoted mother, wife, and teacher.

Look who's getting married NEXT week! Can't wait to be part of your special day very, very soon!

Sometimes life is a little rough, like when your May Wedding gets moved to August because of a pandemic. BUT SOMETIMES... you feel like a princess while every random stranger yells, “Congratulations!” as you walk down the road with your bride tribe.
Always remember those times! You are amazing Sydney! ❤️

We have been working hard during the quarantine. We haven’t been shooting. But we have been gifting extra editing to our clients. We are sharing love and memories and life. This is just one of the couples that are enjoying special extras. Covid: You don’t have us. You just gave us time to realize what is truly important.

LIFE. LOVE. LIVING.

We are thankful for all of our amazing couples before COVID-19 & we are thank for our amazing couples to come.

We aren’t broken, we are grateful, we are growing, we are loving, we are the future. (And I’m looking forward to all of the awesomeness that we get to experience with you.)

I’ve been thinking about history a lot lately. The good things, the bad things, all of these things shaped me
As I am teaching again, I think a lot about our high schoolers, and our technology, especially with concerns to photography. I miss the weirdness of film. The once and done, no filters, no OCD editing, no preset, no labs, no corrections, no scans, just a shot that documented history, and then it was printed and the memory exists in time forever. Looking back, I realize that I wore my camera everywhere, like a best friend. Even before I learned to use an SLR, my parents were always documenting random moments with various film cameras. There are so many memories that I can cherish only because of . Awwww, memories.
Is anybody with me? Do you have cool old school film shots too?

Even if I’m not shooting film, lately I have decided it is so important to give our couples moments and memories, not just pretty, Pinterest, directed by us shots (which I will continue to shoot), but also I want to give back more of those “in between” moments, more ceremony and more reception and more REAL memories. These captured memories made me fall in love with photography when I was a kid. Now, as an adult, looking back, I realize these moments (silly, candid, posed, or in between) are no less priceless.
This is why I am now finishing wedding galleries with extra candids and memorable surprises. I want all my couples to be able to look back and remember the real moments, the people, the laughter, the tears...and of course all the prettiness as well.

I love this photo. It makes me think about being in the waiting period. Waiting. Sometimes it so exciting because you know you are going to see the fruition of your planning, the beginning of a new journey. Sometimes it is almost overwhelming because you can’t see any answers in your future and an journey through the unknown can bring fear.

No matter the situation, waiting is something that we all experience. During this time of pandemic we are all waiting. Plans are on hold, LIFE is on hold, answers are on hold. But there is one thing that we should hold, our faith, which exists in our hope. I have always loved this verse, it reminds me to hold on in good times and in bad times
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11:1‬

‭if you are thinking that’s just a pat answer for a difficult time , it’s okay. There is another verse that explains Gods grace when we can’t or don’t want to hold on to faith anymore... “If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.”
‭‭II Timothy‬ ‭2:13‬.

God will ALWAYS come through, even when we don’t think it is possible. No matter what you are waiting on today, no matter how uncomfortable, or exciting it is, whether you can hold fast onto your faith, or wether you are struggling every day, know that you are not alone. We are never alone.

In the waiting we can focus on the promise that God is ALWAYS faithful and He will ALWAYS come through for us.
