The stretch before the hunt

This big guy gave us incredible opportunities to photograph him. As predicted by our guide, Liech Peter, just before the sun set, he got up from his resting position and stretched long and hard. His stretch had him looking straight into the light and in our direction. Although not the largest of the African big cats, leopards are pound for pound the strongest. They must be incredibly strong in their jaw strength, front and back legs and their entire body to be able to climb straight up trees while clutching to their often heavy prey. As darkness was soon to begin, he lept down from the fallen log on which he had been resting so that he might be able to hunt in the cover of darkness.

AFRICAN FISH EAGLE

Though they occupy the same ecological niche, the African fish eagle and the American bald eagle aren't closely related. They are both found around bodies of water that provide them fishing opportunities, they are both about the same size and their calls are very similar. Other than being separated by oceans, their primary difference is their somewhat different colorization.
