Mother’s Day always has me reflecting on my work over the years. Mostly because when I started this little business 13 years ago, I was deep in the trenches of little ones myself but deeply still wanting to connect with families, especially mothers, through photographs. I wanted to reflect back to them what their children feel towards them. A tangible something on those hard days. A reminder of the fruits of unseen work.

What I didn’t know was what a blessing it would be to me. I have connected with some of my dearest friends, seen my clients through new babies, moves, heartbreak, death and joy unimaginable. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for letting me in, to see your beauty and hear and see your stories. I reflected back today on some images I’ve taken of a handful of the wonderful mothers I’ve had the privilege of photographing over the years. I’ve been inspired and encouraged by each of you. Happiest Mother’s Day.

I have known this family and photographed them for years, so to be there to document Sarah and Mike’s wedding was such an honor. I’m not exaggerating when I say I looked forward to it from the minute she texted me because I knew it would be a day filled with family and friends who are genuine and true because they made each and every person there feel like a treasured part of their lives. From her cozy home to the personalized handwritten name tags to the ceremony including all the wonderful details of how they met, everything about this day invited their guests in and felt intimate and personal. I can’t wait to get through all of these and share more. What and honor to celebrate you two.

Who remembers this gorgeous family? They were the models in my Perfectly Imperfect education videos for photographers I did years ago. It’s truly been an honor to continue to photograph them for all these years and see their kids grow up. I sent her a text after our session telling her what a blessing it was to spend time with their family, seeing them interact and play together even with older kids. Especially with older kids. Photo’s aren’t just for the baby stage. ❤️
