Jo Rae Photography My name is Renee Hall. My photography is from East Tennessee. Landscapes, Nature, and a lil Rural. Decided a few years ago to finally purchase a camera.

Chasing light and watching the skies has always been a favorite of mine. Now I’m trying to find the beauty around me to share with others. Every day presents new opportunities to see much and to be thankful for. Which in turn can help us appreciate our life and Creator.

BREAKING: Poofy Birb Wins Stare-down with Camera. Story below…

A resident roadrunner at Petroglyph National Monument has claimed prime real estate in the corner of the visitor center window. It’s a perfect spot for warming in the sun while silently judging your life choices. Oooh, that hat? When asked for comment on the winter weather, the bird held up a tiny sign that read “Meep! Meep!” (Translation: “It’s cold, leave me alone.”)

In related news, a local coyote was seen ordering industrial quantities of paint, extra brushes, and a copy of “Faux Roads: A comprehensive guide to scenic tunnel painting.” (now in paperback)

Fun fact: In winter, roadrunners fluff up their feathers like a feathered marshmallow to trap heat while soaking up sun during the day, then tuck into sheltered spots (like window corners) to block chilly winds. This birb isn’t grumpy, he’s just patiently warming and mildly offended by flash photography.

It’s About Time

In 2016, I finally bought a digital camera and cannot stop taking pictures! I think the first camera I ever had was a little 110. By the time I had a 35mm camera, I was not focusing on photography, but still took many photos with that second-hand camera. Can't figure out what I did with it either. Probably laid it down somewhere and forgot where I put it. Hate it when that happens. Fast forward to today, it's been a year and a half since I bought a really old digital dinosaur DSLR. Automatic mode was great, but I had to take classes and learn how to shoot on manual mode. Always working on shooting better and trying to learn my editing program. Because making lots of mistakes is giving me a ton of learning experience. Some days I think I should’ve stuck to the point and shoot because I know nothing! Then I realize it’s time to take a deep breath and start again. Now, I absolutely cannot stand being somewhere without a camera!

Currently, working on my online store and finding local festivals to display my work. Please stop by and take a look. It will only take a moment. Thank you for all your support and kind words through the years. Much appreciated.
