I don’t see the pressure first. I see the privilege.

This weekend reminded me why.

One wedding at Bald River Falls.

Just the couple, the officiant, and me.

That was it.

No crowd. No noise. Just the sound of the water and two people choosing each other in one of the most beautiful places in East Tennessee.

Then Gatlinburg.

Driving from location to location, photographing the scenery, chasing moments, and for once having time to simply sit and talk with the couple.

They rode with me as we traveled around, and somewhere between one stop and the next, I got to hear their story.

How they met.

How life brought them together.

The little pieces that made their story theirs.

And I thought, this is incredible.

Almost 10 years into wedding photography, I still cannot believe people trust me with days like these.

These moments happen once.

Then they are gone.

And somehow, God has given me the privilege of being there to preserve a little piece of them.

I never want to get so busy that I stop being grateful for the people, the stories, and the moments God places in front of my camera.

I don’t see the pressure first.

I see the privilege.

I want to share something that’s really been on my heart lately.

Sometimes I get so focused on where I want this business to go that I forget to stop and look at where God has already brought it.

There was a time when booking just a couple of weddings in a year felt like a huge blessing.

This started with a dream, a camera, and a hope that maybe God could do something with it.

And He has.

Little by little, one wedding, one family, one couple, one opportunity at a time… God kept opening doors.

Now I look around and realize I’m living in some of the prayers I used to pray.

That humbles me.

I’m still not where I want to be, and there’s still a lot I want to accomplish.

But I never want what I’m still praying for to make me forget what God has already done.

Don’t let the distance you still have to go make you forget the miles God has already carried you.

God has been so good to me, and I’m incredibly thankful for every person who has trusted me, supported me, shared my work, or prayed for me along the way.

I don’t take any of it for granted.

Bride-to-be, please don’t let Pinterest plan your wedding for you. ❤️

You don’t need every TikTok trend, 37 decorations, six photo locations, or a timeline so packed that you barely have time to breathe.

After photographing more than 70 weddings, I’ve learned something pretty simple:

The weddings people remember most aren’t always the most elaborate.

They’re the ones where the couple actually got to enjoy being married.

Keep the traditions you love. Skip the ones you don’t. Make room for your people. Give yourself some breathing room.

And if something doesn’t go exactly according to plan?

That’s okay.

Some of the most beautiful moments I’ve photographed happened because something didn’t go according to plan.

At the end of the day, you’re not putting on a performance.

You’re marrying the person you love.

Don’t get so busy creating the perfect wedding that you miss your own wedding. ❤️

Just a little photographer’s note from me 📸

After doing this for nearly a decade and photographing more weddings and sessions than I can count, I’ve learned something pretty simple:

The best photographs happen when we trust each other.

When you hire me, you’re not just hiring a guy with a camera. You’re trusting me to watch the light, read the weather, find the right angles, help you when you have absolutely no clue what to do with your hands 😂 and hopefully make the whole thing feel a lot less like a photoshoot.

A few things that make my job AND your experience so much better:

Trust me on the light.
If I suddenly move you ten feet, turn you around, or get way too excited about some random patch of light that looks completely ordinary to you...just go with me. 😂 I promise there’s usually a reason.

Trust me on timing and weather, too.
Sometimes fifteen minutes can completely change the sky, the light, or the whole feel of a photograph. I spend way more time watching weather apps than any normal human probably should.

Bring me your Pinterest ideas. Seriously.
I love seeing what you like. I just don’t want to copy somebody else’s photograph exactly. I want to take the idea and make it yours. Your personality. Your relationship. Your story.

Tell me things.
If you hate a certain angle, have a favorite side, feel awkward about something, have family dynamics I need to know about, or there's a photograph you absolutely want...please tell me. You're never bothering me.

The more I know, the better I can take care of you.

Please don't put a giant Instagram filter over your finished photographs. 😂
I spend a ridiculous amount of time making sure skin tones, colors, light, and everything else look natural and true to life.

If there's something you'd like changed, just ask me.

And please download your pictures instead of screenshotting them.
Your screenshot and my high-resolution file are definitely not the same thing.

And here's the one I'll probably preach until I'm 90...

PRINT. YOUR. PHOTOGRAPHS.

Seriously.

Put them on the wall. Put them in an album. Give one to your parents or grandparents.

Because photographs are funny like that.

The picture you love today might become absolutely priceless twenty years from now.

That's one of the biggest reasons I care so much about what I do.

So when you find a photographer whose work feels like you, trust them.

Be present. Laugh. Love on your people. Don't worry about whether your hand is sitting exactly right or whether the light is perfect.

That's my job.

You just enjoy the moment.

I'll probably be somewhere behind the camera saying, “Yep...stay right there. That's it.” 😂📸

And hopefully we'll create something that means even more to you years from now than it does today.

Your wedding day should feel like your wedding day.

Not like one long photo shoot.

After photographing more than 70 weddings, one thing I’ve learned is that the best moments usually aren’t the ones we planned.

It’s the nervous laugh before the ceremony.
The hug that lasts a little longer.
The tears nobody expected.
The look between two people when they finally realize, “We’re married.”

Those are the moments I’m always watching for.

Yes, I’ll guide you when you need it. I’ll help with the timeline. I’ll make sure we get the portraits that matter.

But I also want to give you room to actually live your wedding day.

Because years from now, I don’t just want you to remember what it looked like.

I want you to remember what it felt like.

If you know someone planning a wedding in East Tennessee or the Smoky Mountains, I’d be honored if you shared this with them.

Now booking select 2026 dates and 2027 weddings.

A little sneak peek from Gracie and Chris’ beautiful wedding day at Moonshine Manor.

These probably won’t even end up being my favorite images from their day. I’m still working my way through the full gallery, but I couldn’t wait any longer to share a handful of these.

Their ceremony had to be pushed back a little because the rain absolutely poured for a while.

But when the time came, everything worked out beautifully.

The mountains.
The quiet moments.
The laughter.
The way these two looked at each other.

It was truly an honor and a privilege to be trusted with a once-in-a-lifetime day like this.

Gracie and Chris, thank you for allowing me to be part of something so special.

And this is only the sneak peek. There is so much more to come.

WEDDING TIP: Hire a photographer who knows how to pivot when the plan changes.

Because weddings rarely go exactly as planned.
It might rain.
The timeline might run behind.
A location might not work.

That’s okay.

I help my couples with timelines.
I watch the weather and the light.
And when something changes, we adjust.

If it rains, we’ll make something beautiful in the rain.
If the plan changes, we’ll make a new one.
If you’re overwhelmed, I’ll be right there helping you through it.

Because your photographer should bring more than a camera.

They should bring experience.
Calm.
And the confidence to remind you of what really matters:

You’re getting married today. Enjoy it.

I’ll take care of the photographs.
And I’ll be in your corner the entire way.

This right here is why I give everything I have on a wedding day.

Rain. Bugs. Wet ground. None of it mattered.

Chris and Gracie trusted me with one of the biggest days of their lives at Moonshine Manor, and I wanted to give them everything I had.

Then Gracie messaged me afterward saying her whole family had been bragging on me.

Her mom, Amy, shared this photo and said I went above and beyond.

That means more than they know.

Beautiful photos matter.

But how you make people feel matters too.

Chris and Gracie, thank you for allowing me to be part of such an incredible day.

And Amy… thank you for documenting just how far I’ll go for the shot. 😂
