INSPIRED BY A CLIENT
Recently at a client location, working and collaborating with my client on her branding session. Totally fun, images at first glance – fabulouso! and that article is to come! As I was finishing up, I looked at the background ensuring what I wanted to include, and what I wanted to hide. Well! And what did my little eye spy?! … a record player! I waited till the session was done, then I pointed out how awesome to have a record player and just simply have the joy of listening to music uninterrupted. Yes, you can get that through the technology of subscription apps. I am a lover of technology, come on for those who know me, I went after a certification in web development, and I teach it part-time through a company. Again, I love technology, but memories flooded back to me of me and my best friend playing vinyl records. Singing and mostly me, acting out the songs, having the best time. Music makes me happy. However, I should have been an actress – but not this life, I have too many other dreams yet to accomplish! Next round on that topic! Ok, Never Say Never, right? Will do! I will add it to this dreamer’s list. Getting back to the topic at present, playing vinyl….I had to have a record player. As we reviewed her album collection, it was a pleasure to chat about the artists, and surprises of similar tastes! I determined then, I had to have a record player! Best place to find the vinyl? Thrift stores, and yes! I hit the thrift stores soon after the purchase. I am now out to collect a plethora of genres….pandora’s box….open sesame! What was my first purchase? Make that plural please! I am Hawaiian by birth, and soul. I was born and raised in my youth in Hawaii, I come from generations of islanders. Here in Maryville, TN at a KARM store, I found a multi collection of Hawaiian records, my brother will be proud… APAKA! He knows what this means. Let’s see, Neil Diamond (love his voice), Babbs and Barry Gibb duo, Gordon Lightfoot (love his voice). The sound of that player needle on the vinyl was so authentic, pleasure and calm over came me. I have a piece of my past with me in the present. And best, this is a gift from my son and his beautiful wife. They had gifted me a lovely gift, something for the kitchen as I love to cook and entertain (dream accomplished many years ago, but always upping the skill thru cooking, just like photographer), and the gift was not a good fit for me, so with their permission (first time ever that I have ever done this), I asked to trade it in for something else. My heart is filled with gratitude…gratitude to my family, and gratitude to my client for awakening my the pleasures of music from my youth. You just never know what you are going to encounter and experience or learn! She had a wonderful time and felt like a movie star throughout the whole session. Again that article to come! I have to catch up on other postings – a ton to post!
