âMy images were never delivered.â
âThey said the card was corrupted.â
âThey sent another photographer to my wedding/portrait session who did a bad job.â
âMy photos look nothing like their website or portfolio.â
âMy photographer stopped communicating and I donât know if they will show up. I have already paid.â
I literally see it every single day. So many scammers and unprofessional behavior out there in my industry. I am in dozens of local and national groups for both photographers and people seeking photographers (brides, moms, businesses, etc.) and issues with people who cannot deliver what they promise are a constant subject.
- I would add to this list to be sure your photographer has insurance, at least a $1M liability policy.
- Are they a member of Professional Photographers of America or another professional organization?
- Do they have formal training or education?
- Do they bring back ups for their back up gear?
- Is this their full-time job or a side hustle?
- For portraits, ESPECIALLY bo***ir, do they have a studio or are they renting hotel rooms or other studios? (This isnât always a bad thing - I rent my studio out to others but just be aware that the images they show online may not be at the same location.)
None of this is required to have a good eye and take a decent photograph, of course. Everyone starts somewhere. However, for a once-in-a-lifetime event such as a wedding or senior portraits, PLEASE choose wisely!
And if you have questions about a photographer feel free to ask me.
Iâm happy to help navigate the process and guide you to the best person for you. Yep, it doesnât have to be me. My ego isnât that big believe it or not. đ
