Long time no see - sorry about that. This from a fabulous foggy day in the Smokies after the Smokies and BRP workshops. You would not know it but this is the flanks of the Chimneys. The fog makes the colors wonky and the reds surrealistic. Hope this finds you all well and happy. Leaving tomorrow for the Caddo Lake workshop. This sourwood has eluded me for several years for some reason. This day it was supersaturated, like maybe I should (and might) tone it down. Trying some different processing moves and will likely tweak it. Off to the desert to get away from the deep freeze. Ya'll stay physically warm but emotionally frosty.

Finally having a chance to edit some Smokies Fall Color 2024 images. Has been a whirlwind with Thanksgiving Christmas New Year and, oh yeah, the swamp. For this one I went to Cades Cove for the fog but the cupboard was bare. Apparently the Cove did not read or respect the forecast. Looking up, there was a low cloud deck so rush up expecting all day fun. Not to be, but there was a layer between Sugarlands and the Chimneys, and this was one of the better takes. Let me put in a plug for Out of Chicago.

Smokies closed down as expected with the recent snow but Knoxville got 4 inches and roads were passable. After enough snow had been laid down to be attractive I went out looking for possible subjects. I have never seen these patterns in newly formed ice, and the snow was piling up in attractive curvy patterns, so here it is. A somewhat aerial perspective from roadside helped.
