📸 AN IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM The.Shutterr.Bug Photography! ✨‼️✨
As photographers, we have the privilege of documenting some of life’s most meaningful moments. With that privilege also comes the responsibility of being thoughtful about how those images are shared.
As of today, I’ll be making a change in how I share photography sessions involving small children.
After giving it a lot of thought, I’ve decided that I will no longer be sharing children’s faces publicly on my photography page. I know many photographers have made this same decision, and I feel that this is the right choice for me as well.
Most importantly, I want to prioritize the privacy, safety, and comfort of the families who trust me to capture and preserve their special memories.
Because of that, I’m changing my approach to photographing and sharing small children’s images online.
Following the recent 7th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling concerning AI-generated CSAM depicting fictional children, I’ve decided that identifiable images of children will no longer be posted on my photography business page, regardless of whether a release has been signed.
I know some of you may wonder why I’m making this change when I’ve previously shared children’s portraits with permission.
The answer is simple: the internet changes, technology changes, and the ways images can potentially be misused change.
I want to be proactive rather than reactive.
This does not mean your session can’t be featured. I’ll simply be looking for images that tell the story without clearly identifying your child.
Think:
• Candid moments
• Family interaction
• Back-of-head portraits
• Silhouettes
• Close-ups of details
• Hands and little fingers
• Creative compositions
• Faces partially or completely turned away
I may also guide your child into certain poses specifically so I can capture images that are beautiful while protecting their identity.
My business is built on the trust of my clients, and protecting that trust is more important to me than having another photograph to post.
I would rather miss out on a social media post than take a risk with someone’s child.
