While sharing the first round of duck minis (which were less chaotic than the second round - my ducks weren't cooperative in round 2), I figured I would share how I acquired ducks and became a duck mom. If you love a good story time, stick around.
WELL, one day I was sent the exact same video by FIVE, count them, FIVE, totally different clients. So, me, being me... I decide to get ducks. It's what people wanted, right? Originally, I was just going to get two ducks. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy. But, then, my tender heart fell into the trap of "cute baby ducks" that were greatly reduced to $2 each at Tractor Supply, so I bought four. Then, it gets worse. My two white ducks were growing exponentially, because (this is a fun fact), Tractor Supply typically only carries JUMBO pekins. But, oh, it gets better...
So, then, as I am watching what was SUPPOSED to be cute, average sized ducks grow into these massively large beasts of a duck, I start to panic over the second round of duck minis coming up. Then, I think, "Aha! I will get MORE ducks!" So, I go and get two more ducks. Except, then, I randomly wander into Tractor Supply (it wasn't random, trust me) and see they have Welsh Harlequins.
Why are Welsh Harlequins important, Mary? See, I never considered myself a duck mom. Beaks scare the living daylights out of me (if you have ever been chased by a rooster, you understand). But, then I became a duck mom and I started researching and learning ALL about ducks. I fell in love with Welsh Harlequins because they have the prettiest feather patterns and quirky personalities. I wanted to add Welsh Harlequins to my ever growing flock... and so, Tractor Supply struck again and WON.
I wandered in empty-handed and wandered out carrying yet another red cardboard box with chirping cuties inside, much to my youngest daughter's chagrin.
So, now, if you ever do a session with me, just know my children, especially my youngest, feel I must be permanently banned from Tractor Supply, and I may start oversharing about my ducks. You're welcome!
