The getting-ready suite sets the tone for your entire wedding day—so don’t overlook it when touring your venue.

A few things I always recommend looking for:

Architecture + design that already feels like you. When the suite naturally complements your wedding vision, your photos feel cohesive from the very beginning. Think beautiful windows, interesting textures, thoughtful finishes, and a space that doesn’t fight with your design.

Comfortable spaces with room to move. You’ll have your entire wedding party, hair and makeup, dresses, bags, snacks, champagne… and somehow everyone always ends up in the same room. Make sure there’s enough space to actually breathe.

A place for the stuff. Look for closets, cabinets, bathrooms, or an adjoining room where bags, garment bags, shoes, and personal belongings can be tucked away. Keeping the clutter contained makes such a difference in both how the space feels and how clean your photos look.

Good natural light. It makes getting ready more comfortable for you and your beauty team—and gives me so much more to work with when documenting those slower, in-between moments.

Spaces with intention. A beautiful sitting area, a balcony, a fireplace, a long hallway, or even a quiet corner can give you options for portraits without having to leave the suite.

Your getting-ready space isn’t just where you happen to get dressed. It’s the first chapter of your wedding day—and the environment you’re surrounded by will influence how the entire day feels.

Choose a venue where the architecture, atmosphere, and details already feel like an extension of your vision 🥂

this incredible design created by Thistle + Lace Florals and Lakelin Palmer was the perfect way to welcome guests to Natalie & Sam’s private property tented wedding reception! As guests arrived from their Greek Orthodox ceremony, they were greeted by welcome drinks at cocktail hour and a stunning tent along the river where the couple will build their first home 🥂🕊️

There are so many things you can plan for on a wedding day… and then there are the things you simply can’t.

Just before Caroline + Colton’s ceremony at this beautiful estate outside of Nashville, once owned by Reba McEntire, the sky turned dark and a huge storm rolled in. The timeline shifted, the ceremony plans changed, and everyone moved into problem-solving mode.

Every vendor knew exactly what to do. The team staff pivoted effortlessly, and together we created a day that still felt every bit as beautiful as they had imagined.

That’s the difference an experienced vendor team makes. It’s not about hoping everything goes perfectly—it’s about surrounding yourself with professionals who know how to adapt when it doesn’t.

At the end of the day, your guests won’t remember the forecast. They’ll remember celebrating with you. And you’ll remember how supported you felt through every unexpected moment.
