When I first started photographing weddings, I hoped couples would love their photos.

After all, that's what every photographer wants to hear.

But after reading through years of reviews, I realized something that completely changed the way I look at my job.

Very few people start by talking about the photographs.

Instead, they talk about how they felt.

They say they felt calm.

Supported.

Prepared.

Like they had someone in their corner all day.

Many of them mention that I helped them enjoy their wedding day more than they expected, and honestly, that's one of the greatest compliments I could ever receive.

Beautiful photographs will always be important to me, but I believe they're only part of the experience.

If you spend your entire wedding day feeling rushed or stressed, that's going to become part of the story you remember.

My goal has never been to simply deliver a beautiful gallery. It's to help create a wedding day that feels joyful, relaxed, and true to who you are, while making sure those moments are documented with the same care they deserve.

I'm incredibly grateful that my couples have noticed that. 🤍

Recently I made a decision that completely changed the way I photograph weddings.

I stopped charging by the hour.

Not because it was a better business model, but because I realized something.

Couples were making decisions about their wedding day based on photography coverage instead of the experience they wanted to have.

They were debating whether they could afford another hour instead of asking whether they wanted to stay for a private last dance, spend more time with their guests, or enjoy a slower morning getting ready.

That never sat right with me.

I don't believe your wedding day should fit inside a pre-determined package.

I believe your photography should fit your wedding day.

That's why every full wedding day collection includes coverage from the beginning of your day through whatever moments matter most to you. We build your timeline around your priorities first, then I photograph the day as it naturally unfolds.

For me, that approach has never been about more hours.

It's about giving my couples the freedom to experience their wedding day without watching the clock. 🤍

After photographing weddings for more than 16 years, I've noticed something interesting.

The moments couples talk about years later usually aren't the ones they spent months planning.

They remember sitting together for the first time after the ceremony and realizing they were finally married.

They remember seeing grandparents on the dance floor.

They remember the conversations, the hugs, the laughter, and the feeling of having everyone they love together in one place.

Those moments aren't created by a checklist.

They're created when you have enough space to notice them.

That's one of the reasons I care so much about thoughtful planning. Good planning isn't about controlling every minute of your day. It's about creating enough margin that you're free to enjoy the moments you never could have planned in the first place.

Those are often the memories that stay with you long after the wedding day is over. 🤍

✨ If you're looking for a photographer who cares just as much about your experience as your photographs, I'd love to hear what you're planning.

One piece of wedding advice I don't think gets shared enough:

Choose vendors you trust.

Not just because they're talented, but because they're people you'll spend a lot of time with on one of the biggest days of your life.

When your vendor team communicates well and genuinely cares about your experience, everything feels easier. You can relax, stay present, and actually enjoy your wedding day instead of managing it.

Your vendor team should feel like people in your corner, not just people checking boxes. ✨

If you're still building your dream team, I've shared more planning advice on the blog linked in my profile.

One of the biggest mistakes I see isn't choosing the wrong flowers, hiring the wrong vendors, or forgetting some small detail.

It's building your wedding day around logistics instead of the experience you want to have.

I completely understand why it happens. There are so many moving pieces that it's easy to focus on timelines, transportation, family photos, and making sure everything happens exactly as planned.

Those things are important, but they shouldn't become the reason you miss the experience itself.

I've photographed weddings where everything ran perfectly on time, yet the couple barely had a chance to slow down and enjoy it. I've also photographed weddings where the timeline shifted throughout the day, but the couple was relaxed, present, and surrounded by the people they love.

If I had to choose between a perfect timeline and a meaningful experience, I'd choose the meaningful experience every single time.

That's why I build timelines with breathing room. Not because I expect the day to go wrong, but because I want you to have the freedom to actually enjoy it when everything goes right. 🤍

If wedding planning feels overwhelming, it's probably not because there are too many decisions to make.

It's because you're trying to make decisions before you've decided what matters most.

When you don't have a clear direction, every opinion feels equally important. One person tells you to do a First Look. Another says you'll regret it. One friend says you need eight hours of photography. Another says twelve. Pinterest tells you one thing, TikTok tells you another, and before long it feels like everyone has a different idea of what your wedding day should look like.

I've found that planning becomes much simpler when you start with your priorities instead.

Once you know what's most important to the two of you, the rest becomes easier to sort through because every decision has a purpose. Instead of asking, "What is everyone else doing?" you begin asking, "Does this help create the kind of wedding day we want?"

That's exactly how I guide my couples. We don't make decisions just because they're popular. We make them because they support the experience you want to have and the memories you want to create.

🤍 If you're looking for more practical wedding planning advice, you'll find plenty of free resources on my blog, along with my Wedding Planning Checklist to help you plan with confidence.

Most couples think the first decision in wedding planning is choosing their venue. While that's probably the first vendor you'll book, I actually think there's a step you've missed if you went straight to venue hunting.

After 16 years of photographing weddings, I've found the first decision isn't where you'll get married. It's deciding how you want your wedding day to feel.

Before you book your venue, choose your colors, or start saving inspiration photos, take a minute to tune out everyone else's opinions and decide together what matters most to the two of you.

Plan a wedding that feels true to who you are instead of a checklist of things you're "supposed" to do.

Once you know how you want your wedding day to feel, so many of the other decisions become easier because you're no longer planning around what everyone else is doing. You're planning around what matters most.

That's how I approach every wedding with my couples. We start with your priorities, then build a day that supports them. 🤍

This might be a surprise to hear from a photographer… but your kids don’t need to be still and smile on cue. They just need to be themselves!

That’s where the magic is! …with photos that capture personalities, not just what your family looks like right now.

One of the questions I get asked most often is whether couples should do a first look.

The answer is always the same: it depends on how you want your day to feel.

Some couples love having a quiet moment together before the ceremony. Others have dreamed of seeing each other for the first time walking down the aisle.

Neither choice is right or wrong.

The best decision is the one that supports your priorities, your timeline, and your experience. That's why I walk every couple through the pros and cons before they decide.

If you're trying to figure out what makes the most sense for your day, I've shared more planning tips on the blog, and you can download my free Ultimate Wedding Planning Checklist through the link in my bio. 🤍
