Please share this post!!!
I'm sorry for the post. I've never done this before and I will probably never do it in the future. It was just the most efficient way for me to get to everyone at once. I also apologize for this long post but I feel it has to be written. Please bear with me.
On my personal socials, I have been posting daily about the proposed National Forest and Bureau of Land Management public lands sell off proposed by Senator Mike Lee of Utah which is a part of the Big Beautiful Bill that the president wants signed by 7/4. I still sit in disbelieve when I consider it. Nearly 300 million acres of YOUR public lands, lands that have been fished, hunted, hiked, camped upon, skied, snowboarded, photographed and rambled over for generations will be sold off to the highest bidder if this bill goes through.
This fight is EXTREMELY personal to me because 2 of my favorite National Forests, the Stanislaus and the Inyo, will be gutted. Once sold they will be fenced, locked, "developed" or r***d for their minerals and timber.
In my darkest times (and I do mean dark), being on these lands and photographing them helped to restore who I was back into myself. The hours spent rambling Lundy and Lee Vining Canyons, staring at the tufa towers on the south shore of Mono Lake, the moment in sunset when the reflection of the light on the water made the Clavey River appear as flowing, melted gold, silence and contemplation at Starkwether Lake, photographing the Minaret skyline so that I could have it reproduced on my wedding ring, and literally chasing a rainbow at the top of Sonora Pass.
ALL OF THESE PLACES THAT I HAVE MENTIONED AND ARE PICTURED HERE COULD BE GONE. THAT is why it is personal. When they go, so does a part of me. PLEASE call the congressional switchboard, have them connect you to your senators and tell them to vote NO on the public lands sell off and do this not once but DAILY (it really takes no time)! From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!
