Stellar Outreach

Stellar Outreach Astronomer/Educator/Space enthusiast. Bringing the universe to you! Book your astronomy experience today! My love for astronomy is unlike any other.

When I was 12 years old, I saw the movie Apollo 13 and became interested in space exploration. While gaining an interest in that, I discovered astronomy and became hooked ever since. Since then, I've been studying the stars and the universe and educating myself to better our night sky. I enjoy sharing the things I've learned with others. I also enjoy astrophotography, telescope viewing and the fas

cinations of space. I created this page to share my journey and help educate, share and interest others in astronomy.

I have officially re-signed a two year agreement to continue my NASA Solar System Ambassadorship! A lot of you may have noticed that my content creation has kind of been very minimal over the last year. Well there's a few reasons for that, & I want to share them with you.

To start off, February last year I contracted bacterial pneumonia and it sidelined me for a good 6 weeks and I nearly died. When you get information like that from a doctor it really changes your perspective on life. I have so many things that I would love to do, so many things that I currently love doing. But, I don't have a lot of time to do all of it. I decided to reallocate my free time.

Last year by the second to last night at the Grand canyon star party, I got something that I never thought I would get, astronomy fatigue. I felt exhausted, I felt bored and I've never felt that way when it's come to astronomy. It's always been the place for me to escape. And now the place that I escaped to didn't seem to help me.

I am now dealing with another health issue that will take some recovery time. Life throws a lot at you.

My main job which many of you know what it is, has been at a standstill for the last few years. I was moved to Florida on what was my 6th promotion in 5 years to expand the FL market. In the 7 years I've been down here I have not been promoted. My growth has stalled and I been pitted into he lowest morale I never had. With all of that piling on I realized that I am just mentally and emotionally exhausted from life itself. And it got to the point where the things that I love the most weren't making me happy.

So now I'm at the point in life where I'm just going to do what makes me happy. Part of that is sharing my love for the cosmos with every one of you. I will continue with working towards making a full time job. I will up the ante on my NASA content! And I will do my absolute best to be humble, kind and enjoy this existence with you, my astronomy family. The content is returning! The stargazing is coming back! I hope you continue the journey with me!

Much love,
-Astr∅Nick

Jupiter will be at opposition on January 10th. Jupiter at opposition is when Earth passes directly between the Sun and Jupiter, making it appear brightest, largest, and visible all night! This was taken the other night and for the like 60th time in a row, I cannot capture the Big Red Spot 🤣.

Because and catch Jupiter on Saturday!

The Lunar X and the Lunar V.
An "X" and "V" appear on the moon briefly as sunlight picks out broken terrain and crater rims on the lunar surface. It is easily visible through the telescope. Tonight I took some photos of it before it disappeared. This occurs every moon phase for a short time. So next month, check it out if you can!

I'm still very very new to solar photography. It is much different than any other type of astrophotography that I have done. This is the first shot I've ever taken through a telescope that looks semi decent. There's a lot of solar activity going on right now. I took this using my Heliostar76. Using my mini and shooting in Smart cap, this is the shot I came up with. Obviously there's lots to learn as I don't like that it appears to be printed on cardboard 🤣. Plus I think I might need to invest in a bigger sensor. The mini is nice but I want to shoot the entire sun and not just a small section of it. Friends, help lol.

Todav we kicked off our first Librarv event and the turn out was fantastic! Lots of kids, lots of questions! Loved seeing the curiosity! The children also participated in a demonstration of orbit! Each one picked a planet and circled the sun! A big thank you to the parents who brought the kids out to learn astronomy
Next week we will be at the Hart Memorial Library in Kissimmee at 4:30pm!

Hello Trifid Nebula. Looking all beautiful with your pretty colors! 😻
This is one of my favorite objects to photograph. This is the first time I've taken dark sky photos with my Sky-watcher Esprit 120, so Trifid was definitely on the list.

The Trifid Nebula, also known as Messier 20 (M20) or NGC 6514, is a stunning nebula located in the constellation Sagittarius.
It's a combination of an emission nebula, a reflection nebula, and a dark nebula, with an embedded open star cluster. This object is about 5,200 light years from Earth. That means the light from the object took 5,200 years to travel through space, to Earth through my telescope and into my Camera for this shot. 😱
